new heat extraction via hood

I have known about this guy for a few years:

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/B...7/outside.html

He used Lumina Z34 hood vents to get some heat out of his engine bay.

Has anyone adapted these functional hood vents to their car? I am thinking about installing some in my hood. Can they be used in a fiberglass hood the same way as a steel one?

I may have to isntall them on either side of the cowl on the Cervini cowl hood I'm gonna buy.

BTW: Geocities sucks - the red X you may see is because of them. Just click the link provided.

ugly, and besides, you'll get all the venting you need with the cowl hood.

What would be ugly about it? Its better looking that the unfunctional louvers and would add something to a cowl hood, dont ya think?

water would be an issue though wouldn't it? It would get on the metal parts around the area where the vents are and would start rusting components faster.

You can't really do anything without someone thinking its ugly. I say go for it, it won't be ugly by any means and it will atleast be functional. Post some pics when you're done with it.

They have what GM called drip pans behind them. I intend to scrap the drip tray idea for weight and also so that I can close off the vents with a sheetmetal cover, just like the guy with the Beretta did.

Currently I live in Idaho and it rarely rains anyway, and after my car is finished (probably the next time I'll get to drive it) I'm not going to let it see rain.

Either way, its gonna rock.

I couldn't figure it out; I love the cowl hood look, but it almost looked like something was missing... It needs something to break all the same color up.
