Rest in peace little camaro

*sigh* It was raining and i went to make a uturn. i gave her about 5 percent gas when i was half way turned around i hit an oil slick started to spin i turn into the spin and slamed on the gas i got out of the spin and lurched foward but she cought the oil agian and started to spin violentlyi got out of it agian but i got out of the spin in zero visabilty and the last thing i saw was a poll.then i kept going (i paniced and hit the gas. my leg stiffed up) i hit a bus bench bus sign and stoped on a water maine. i rolled down my window (door jam) jumped out and hugged my car till my family and the firedepartment showed up it was the worst day of my ****ing life i was weeping while i held my poor car but my worst fear isnt confimed yet. either i just ****ed up my new radiator and hood with everything but the motor busted or i bent the frame or i broke off my stearing box. the police didnt give me anytickets and i got her towned home. the cops told me wrecking such a beautiful car was punshment enough for me and a firefighter tryed to make me feel better by telling me about when he wrecked his brand new 2002 SS. my pop made me feel better tellnig me everyone wrecks either it happens now or later on its a fact of life he wrecked his first day then a year later and also wrecked his 1978 camaro freshouta the body shop it was interresting he told me he was headed home from the races at 2am sleepy he was half asleep when he got sucked under a semi but unlike gay 2f2f he down shifted and got out from under there oh weel REST IN PEACE MY LITTLE CAMARO

from the pics, it looks fixable. i would start ebaying and try to find some parts from there. you'd be surprised how cheap you can get front fenders and stuff these days. i say about $600 in used parts then paint...at least try man, don't scrap it.

He's right, it happens to pretty much everyone eventually. I lost two second gens that way. The first, a '76 hot rod, was rear-ended at a stop sign by some yahoo in a blazer. Totaled. The second was my damn-near perfect '80 Z28 which I put into a roll-off container in the middle of downtown Manhattan somewhere. Totally my fault - this was about fifteen years ago and I had been partying very heavily that night. Totaled that one too.

Why is it this never sems to happen to the beaters?

At any rate, maybe there's some consolation to be found in the fact that you've gotten it out of the way early.. That, and that you are OK.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do with it.

I believe it's primer after a grafted on cowl job, am I right?

Like everyone else says, OUCH. Sorry to see this man. I think you'd be better off finding a shell, that doesn't look to cost effective to fix. Swap everything over and you'd be ready to go in no time. It could have been worse. Just remember, you WILL wake up tommorrow and thats all that really matters. Good luck on whatever you chose to do

Thats sad. Good luck with fixing her. And yeah, most everyone loses a cherished ride to an accident at some point in their lives. My first 3rdgen, an '82 SC, got totalled when some jackass in a Honda ran a light and t-boned me. I loved that car and almost cried as the tow truck was pulling her away. I bought my first Z28 with the insurance money, so you see, there is always a silver lining.

the flat black stripe was just an idea of mine its kinda a unique paint job well thats what i though. its only on he hood i dont know why i did it but it looked pretty cool in person it had an enmial so it pretected and looked like sort of a shiney primer also thats a glasstek hood so its not grafted. thanks for the stories guys. flyin low it happend on powerline and commercial. anyways my friend a bodyman came by today. the body pannels i can get from a freind for 100 (full z28 front clip) but the frames bent and the strut tower bent into the firewall so its pretty much usless to fix her up (8 grand to get the chassis unbent and everything fixed) so off to the bone yard she goes its just not worth the 3 grand i payed for her. the car served its perpose and now after 13 years of daily driveing its finaly done the frames bent bad the pole really did her in i feel like crap and i dont think ill be geting a new car anytime soon =(

Teal,
That really sucks about your accident... I'd AT LEAST part it out before it hits the junkyard.

I know a guy in TN that sells rust-free '78-'81 2nd Gen Camaro rolling chassis.

His name is Pete DeFazio; contact him through his website... http://www.fbodywarehouse.com

Tell him that Metal sent ya' !

Part it out !!

TEAL,
If you've got that car in your driveway (or stored somewhere)... part that bad-boy OUT... make some $$ before you get insulted w/ the $50 junkyard tow-away offer.
Damn-skippy they're going to be parting it out... maybe on a smaller scale, however you know a place to peddle parts. Here and Ebay.

http://www.fbodywarehouse.com has a rolling inventory of '78-'81 Camaros and Firebirds... I'd check it out if I was you. If Pete doesn't have one now... he ALWAYS gets them in.

He's a MAJOR parts mover and mover of rolling shells.
His phone number is on the website: http://www.fbodywarehouse.com

I'm the webmaster of his site... I personally know that he can get you what you want... good luck bro.

Randy (Metal)

**I'd NEVER just give that car away... sorry bro, it's worth TOO much... part it out

yeah i know parting it out would be great but i need money now for a car to get me from point a to b and that camaro salvage yard is offing me good money for both camaros in the driveway 300 for a car i bought for 150 and 1500 for this camaro 1800 is good money man my mom will give me some cash mabey 1000 so 2800 im only 200 away from a 1978 camaro down here with a 350 (good project). im thinking of parting it out but really it takes forever man and i dont ahve that kinda time (schools about to start) so im stressed on geting some wheels. i really think 1500 is a reallly fair offer for the car its has its problems first its wrecked the frames bent one rims cracked its got no lights up front some wires riped and plus the motors on 117k with the valve guides starting to leak.so really i need it gone its just makeing me more depresed looknig at this car. i loved it with all my heart (washed it every 2 days, checked the fuilds everyday! also i checked the tires and cleaned the interior everyday!) so really its just saddening looking at it and if i gave it to a camaro "salvageyard" i could get money and they would take it apart and scrap it where i cant see it. if i part it out people will be ****ing riping **** out ****ing it up picking off parts in my yard and i would probly cry watching them pick it to shreds!

Re: Part it out !!

Man that sucks. I had that happen a few times in my old 88, but always made it out OK.

At least you're OK.

A worse feeling is when you don't do it. Someone wrecked my 88 and it sucked because they give you some BS story and you'll never know how it happened.

Wow, they're generous out by you, eh?

When I had my 88 taken off, I called the guy to arrange the pickup. He asked what car, and then he asked what was on it. I lied and said "pretty much everything" (an acquaintance had helped me pull a decent amount of parts from it). He then told me "I'm not paying you anything for that car, it isn't worth anything. You'll be lucky if I decide to pick it up." (Right, bull****, it still had all the glas which I couldn't store and the engine, as well as a good back half of the car).

The flatbed showed up and you could see the disappointment in his face when he saw what he had come for. He got glass and doors, I think that's about it for usable parts. Messed up seats (car had been outside, some cats made it "home), destroyed headliner, mangled exhaust, and I think we drilled a hole in the gas tank. And that's only because I had no where to store that stuff.

You can always do what they did in the original Gone in 60 Seconds.

Well, $300 could get you a decent point A to Point B car, althought it wouldn't be pretty. I have a friend who hasn't owned a car thats cost him more than $400, and they usually last at least a year,

In the meantime you could keep the RS and look for a good shell with a bad interior to swap your RSs good parts into.

Valve seals bah my are leaking at 50,000. Just a fact of life with these things. And some people have a lot more mileage on their car, so 117K means nothing if its well maintained.

I think you're just trying to come up with excuses for that '78.

*UPDATE*
Ok guys heres the scoop i found a 1985 z28! no engine or tranny and it has a few problems but only 650 dollars!! its missing a hood loover and it has mismatched rims also missing the front gfx but is it great shape. i can reuse all my rs rims (painting them will be easy) and i am gona reuse all my useable gfx.also i know a guy who can sell me the front 91 gfx for like 20 bucks (i bought my car from him he cryed harder than me when he herd i wrecked it the car i felt so bad).now for the driveline i never put my 3.73s and posi in so i can reuse them in this rear i have a 4 speed manual in the warehouse and not that brings me to an engine im undesided if i want to buy one or reuse the ones i have (lg4,l03). i can get a good deal on an l98 longblock with everything but the intake for like 500 then i could but a holly carb and perfromer rpm intake and put some headers and trueduals on. im just sooooo excited ill keep you guys up to date on this later!

Yeah my buddys gona sell me that whole 91 front cap minus the hood so im excited also im gona reused all my rs stuf (thats worth useing). also that car has t-tops the guy told mewhen i called him about the car he also said when he bought it it was from yong guy who had painted the t-tops (sigh these kids). so t its an auto so no 4-speed =/. im gona use a bunch of stuf off my rs inculdeing : Rs front cap,RSgroundeffects, my t-tops,my interior and a few asorted parts. also i have a choice of two spare motors (lo3,lg4) and i dont know which 305 to pick! both have 120k miles and both of there valve guides leak but the difference is when my dad piced up this 85 sc that the lg4 came out of he said thatthe car hauled *** not like our 383 nova but pretty damn fast for a 305 he said he. also he said it peged out the spedo easly and that leads me to think this thing might have some headwork and but my lo3 on the otherhand it gets better gas mileage but is slower *sigh* i think im gonig with the lg4 cuase im really only useing it for 3 or 4 months while i rebuild a 350 of ours. this is an exciteing time for me im gona put a motor in and get the body work done so i can drive it to school and then im gona do my interior and finaly put the 350 in and get her painted! its probly gona take a half a year or so but this shure is goan be fun (yeah right lol)

These cars are an illness lol. i cant get rid of them ive got the blue sc out front then a wrecked RS and now im planing on buying an 85 Z28 *** help me. the citys gona come down on my *** for haveing all of these non-moveingcars heres a shortlist: 1991 Camaro RS,1985 Camaro Sportcoupe,1991 Chevy S10 Blazer plus my moveing cars 9172 nova and a 1995 Chevy Utilty truck and not to forget a bucnch of bricks bags on concrete and oh and about 1000 pieces of wood fenceing. im not clutred am i? well all of this has a plan. gona extend my driveway to hold 2 more cars and make my carport a closed in room to hold all of my tools. Then when i go buy this 1985 Z im gona use all of the RS parts i can and use my sport coupes motor then im gona sell the shell of the RS and sportcoupe to Baileys Camaro junkyard and then my z will be ready for 6 months of driveing while i build a 1972 4 bolt main 350 outa a dualie for it. then i can sell my 305 and blazer and me brother and father go up north and get the 1969 z/28 rebuild its motor and put it back together oh and we ahve about a year to do this lmfao sounds easy right?

Bad news guys my lg4 is ruined =/. it has been stinig for a few moths hooked up my battery and damn the ****er knocks a rod. Either i gota buy the 350 or use the really crapy lo3 which isnt really worth the wireing nightmare just to use for 2 or 3 motnhs so i think its gona be the 350. good and bad news just thought id update you later.
