Rear carpet out... suggestions?
I plan on having a nice interior. Pretty quiet and comfortable is the goal. I would like to toss the silly jute padding between the carpet and body in favor of something more effective, but can't make a solid decision based on my searches here and elsewhere. There are sprays, linings, tars, and materials of all sorts that all claim they're the best for deadening sound and getting rid of squeaks. So who has some experience in this and can offer some good comparisons and/or opinions? Post pictures if you got em.

I can't see anything you would spray being as good as some kind of thing matting or something.

I have all my rear interior out and I am planning on covering alot of it with dynamat to deaden the sound.
http://www.dynamat.com/
Their website kinda sucks but I havent heard anything bad about their product.

I've been wondering recently how well that underlayer for carpets would work that you can get at say Lowe's. It's super cheap and seems like it would do a good job. I haven't tried it though.

You mean for house carpet? That's jute padding. Here's the spray-on stuff I was mentioning: http://www.quietcar.net/

Ummm, no. Go there and ask for the stuff you put under the carpet in WET areas, aka the bathroom. It's a sort of foam rubber with a layer of thin plastic at the top. It works 3 ways: 1. It dampens the sounds. 2. It acts as good insulation (the only part of our bathroom that has ANY insulation and it gets dang hot in there). 3. It acts as a waterproof barrier to protect your floors.

I used peal and seal, its a roofing material very similar to dynamate, but a good bit cheaper. I also used some metalic bubble sheets, looks like a survival blankit but is very good for thermal/noise, its also a roofing material. Under the seats and a few other places I put in some fiberglass insulation. I also coated my inner 1/4 pannels with undercoating. I also used some expanda foam for arears around my sub. Then to cut down on dash squeaks etc I put 1/4 inch foam rubber inbetween the joints, using some spray adheasive. I also installed sub frame connectors. All in all its quite, but not luxury car quite. I left my juit padding on my carpet, as it was brand new and the padding will help the carpet not wear as fast.
See page 5 of my cardomain site, not many pics of the insulation but the shinny stuff at the edge of the carpet before I installed the pannels is the material.
