Berlinetta steering columns compatible with Irocs?

Berlinetta steering columns compatible with Irocs?
I just got a tilt column for free from a guy, but I had a few questions.
First, it's from an 84 Berlinetta with an automatic. Is it fully compatible with an 88 Iroc with a standard?
Second, the wiper wash thing (not the whole lever, just that part) is broken. Is this easy to fix?
Thirdly, there is a cable that comes off the column near the middle. What the heck is that for?

1. Why you gettin rid of yours? If its broke I'll buy it from you for parts. Yes, it will work.
2. $40-50 at a parts store will get you a new turn signal stalk/wiper switch. (this is all I can say about it without a better explanation of how it's broke)
3. Depending on what the cable connects to, its either for cruise control (4-prong flat plug) or the park lock cable for the auto shifter. Just remove the cable from the ignition switch if the cable is indeed for the park lock on the shifter. Trickster has directions on doing so.

3. It's a braided metal cable, so probably what you're talking about (auto park). Is it up on the site as a tech article?
When all is said and done, my old column (which will have a broken wash thing (not the whole wiper switch arm, just the part that activates the wash) and a berlinetta steering wheel and center cap will be up for grabs.
I'll keep you posted, and I'll try to get pics of stuff.

1. if it wobbles up and down there is a bolt underneath the column that you tighten and it will fix it.
2. sounds like you just need a new tumbler for your ignition. check about VATS first.
3. have no idea about the cable.

I'm in the same boat in terms of the wobble and ignition lock. I'm going out sometime this week to get a new lock (probably the same day I go and get the rearview mirror and manual rear window latch) and while my car is in the shop I can get time in to fix the wobble, however, the bowl that the rear end of the lock housing (the metal one) is set in has been turned into a bunch of plastic fragments (some by me, most by weather and DPO's negligence) and I don't want to go to GM and spend $41 for a new one

I'd go ahead and replace the entire column with one from the same junkyard I'm getting the other parts, but most of those don't have anything other than door keys, so whats the point?
And no there is no directions other than in the Helms manual, there is a single screw on the ignition switch that connects the park lock cable to the switch slider. Remove the switch, rotate the cable housing, and pull the cable out of the slider.

don't all of the berlinetta columns lack the turn signal lever because the controls are mounted on the dash instead? This is at least true with the digital dash setup.
