The car it self is very clean. The only parts that had any rust on them were the battery tray and the core support. I've already changed both with new g.m. pieces. The rest of the car is spotless. The seams on the bottom of the doors are even rust free.

aw so thats what was above ur wheelhouse, ur old battery tray. i was pointing out all those rust spots like where all your clips go and such. atleast it looks like rust, and also some on ur pass side a-pillar.
its not like i have any room to talk though , ive probobly got the rustiest maro out there, and thats not even exadgerating. ive fixed bout 60% of it but still gotta replace the pass inner wheelhouse and partial rocker and partial floor pan.

Yes it does have some suface rust here and there. But that will be removed prior to painting. The car has been sitting for about 15yrs mostly in a garage untill about about a year and a half before i got it. But no big deal.

Advice you did not ask for:
1. Cover the interior with painter's plastic. You get like 100 miles of the stuff for 15 bucks at a hardware store.
2. And cover your wheels or take them off.
Your interior will be a biatch to clean out especially once you start sanding and getting bondo/paint/metal shavings all in the fibers. And the wheels, well they look nice, and a blob of paint stripper in the wrong spot could ruin your day.

Wheels are coming off. The interior is coming out and getting scrubbed and new seat covers, carpeting and headliner anyways. Wanna go with gray leather.

heh , while were doing it , some more advice u did not ask for
it looks like ur wetsanding, excuse me if im wrong; watch how much water gets into the car, the carpet will soak it up and hold it. then it will rust, youd be surprised if u actually knew what a little bit of water sitting on a joint can do.
oh and bondo soaks up water. mkay so all that walmartmudd u got on there might be rusting underneath. youll probobly run into a crack which will prove that.

I'm dry sanding for now. Wont wet sand untill the car is in filling primer. But ill have it plasticed off by then. I'm not using bondo. The stuff im using is rage body filler. I dont think it absorbs water like bondo does, but i could be wrong.

yea all plastic body filler absorbs water. xcept for like polyester glazing putty (not a plastic body filler , anyways) which includes most glazes , atleast i think, i might be wrong. and fiberglass filler resists water, so if u had like some welds i'd use that first.

Looks good, is it just me or does that seem like alot of body filler on that though. I bought a ford curier once for 100 to teach myself how to do body work and I ended up with less filler on it than you have on your car. Of course I could behind most of the spots and hammer them relatively straight before filling and sanding.
As a side note after I finished with the truck I beat the crap out of it in the woods behind my house playing around LOL, then sold it for 150, LOL
But anyways It looks as though you have gotten it really straight.

There is about half the amount of filler on the quarter than when i stripped it. The quarter got hit (looked like someone cought a pole or tree maybe) along time ago. Some one pounded majority of it out but it still needed mud. But alot of the filler i put on came off. Didn't see that my long bourd was bent. But it isnt all that thick. But as for the doors they warped when i welded the handles shut. Didnt have a choice.

They are out of a chevy celebrity. The conversion is pretty easy. Just cut out the section where the stock head lights used to be, and epoxy the new ones in. Just make sure there level before epoxying them in. I'm going to finish the headlights this weekend i'll post some more pics monday.

nice job on the camaro. i did the same thing to my 86 iroc last year, just got the new carpet and headliner in. need to install new iroc stickers, just waiting until somebody gives me the measurement of where to place the "iroc" sticker on my 86 model where the decal goes toward the front of the door. best of luck, tom
