Took my hatch off....about to re-paint

I've finally gotten around to taking my spoiler and hatch off. Geez.....that thing is heavy. I never re-painted the decklid or the spoiler...and under bright lights....the clear has a hazy look to it....and was scratched up pretty bad....so...I'm going to repaint the spoiler and the hatch off the car so I don't have to worry about masking the car. I'll post a few pictures when I get it done, just some last minute things before a few parades and a few shows

derfrosterless
haha that's a good one..

Well, it really wasn't hard at all....just takes 3-4 guys to help lift it off. I just took out 4 bolt,s held on with nuts (13MM wrench) & it came right off. I think it will be alot hard to put it back on though...because everything will have to be back exactly the same. I used some "white out" around the bolts to try to get pretty close to where it was located it was before I removed it. I just took out my hatch seal, masked pretty much the back half of the car and spray the hatch jam with satin black....now just letting it tack up before I give it another coat.

Its really not that hard to get it back on, just me and my dad got it on in about ten min and got it aligned perfect the first time no adjustments.

Word of advise when you put the hatch back on, once you get it bolted back up, leave the shocks off. I had mine off a couple weeks ago and fought with it for a while trying to get it realigned with the shocks on and finally gave up. The next day I took the shocks off and it worked a lot easier because they weren't pushing it out when I went to close it. Even though I have a convertible and the hatch is smaller, it might work for you and be that much less of a hassle.
By the way, awesome car IMO, one of the nicer ones here!

yeah it is a simple job to do. takes a few minutes to unbolt it. i removed mine and replaced with a notch. WHAT a weight saver those things are. if your serious about draging, get a notch. the glass takes two to pick up, i can pick up my notch with 1 hand.

Well, I got the decklid and spoiler all in primer today...and they are ready to paint. When I took my hatch off....I layed it on a table and wrapped it up in plastic so nothing would get on it (rain)....I took the plastic off today and I guess it got waaay to hot underneath the glass because my tint started to form bubbles...and before I knew it..I was just peeling the tint off like nothing. It's really kind of a good thing though because the owner before me had the rear window tinted...and it was starting to "purple"....anyhow..I'm just going to have the rear window tinted really dark like the rest
