rearview mirror "button"

okay, I'm sure this is a really dumb question and as soon as I post it I'll probably figure it out, but my rearview mirror fell of the other day and I bought the little kit thing to fix it and it says to remove the rearview mirror "button." Well I figured out what that was from the picture but I still can't figure out how to get it off...

There should be a small attaching screw in the base of the mirror. Remove or loosen the screw sufficiently to slide the "button" off. It could be a phillips head screw or a internal hex head screw holding it.
