I'm in the process of building my own carputer.
The power supply was the most expensive part. It ran me I think $170 or $180. But it was a 150w DC->DC ATX w/ built in shutdown controller.
Mini-ITX board was $100.
I already had extra RAM and a harddrive for it.
I'm not going to be using a monitor... I decided a 4x40 or 4x20 LCD display wouldn't look so umm... ghodi. I still haven't found the right one yet. I want blue characters with a black background. I can't seem to find this combination anywhere in a 4x40.
Anyways, I'd expect to pay anywhere from $500 - $700 for a good carputer.
