Custom high-rise spoiler idea
After looking at a few pictures of the Highrise spoiler, I though of something...Dont know if someone makes this spoiler or has done this or not, but what would one look like with the center posts removed? Yeah, might look a LITTLE bit ricy, but I think that if it was done right and the spoiler looked like it was molded into the car (no big gaps anywhere), it could look awsome. Any thoughts?

like this?
The center posts mount to the deck lid...but they are not the only thing that holds the spoiler on to the deck lid. There are also a few bolts on the outter edge of the spoiler that bolt it to the deck lid....I'm sure someone could do this....but not me....way to r*cey......
because the center posts are how it mounts

That would be SOoooooooo easy to do. I personally dont like the look but if someone wants that Done I have a spair 91-92 wing off my Z. I could mod and sell.
Id have to look but I forget I belive it only mounts with the center 2 posts. You wold **** have to shorten it so it would mount via the outer 2.

the spoiler doesnt mount to the quarters at all...it mounts to the very outside of the deck lid and in the center of the decklid. BUT, the main support is by the 2 posts in the ceter...and that's why they were probably put there. The only concern I would see is that the center posts provide most of the support for the spoiler...and after time...without the posts...it would be possible for the middle to start sagging some....just because of the weight and because of gravity...

Would there be a way to reenforce the spoiler? That pic of the prototype with the wing like that looks AWSOME IMO, and if theres a way to do it, I would be interested in doing it. Are the aftermarket ones any stronger? Would there be an easy, fairly inexpensive way to strengthen the wing?

Without the center posts wouldn't it just rip off at high speeds? It's only held on by 1 screw and 1 bolt on each end,is that enough?

Not certain how by just removing the 2 center posts it all of a sudden becomes an import wing but, anyways...
I can't speak for the OEM highrise but, the A&A one I used to have on my bird was extremely rigid (very well made) and, from my understanding, mounted to the stock bolt locations for and OEM highrise. There were 8 bolts/screws total holding the wing on. I seriously doubt yuou could get going fasst enough for it to rip off, even with 4 bolts holding it down. The edge mount points are as follows (red arrows)...

If you were referring to the stock hi-rise wing,as I were, then you see that the screw part was what I thought was the weakest link to holding the wing on.The stock ones are only held on by a skinny screw and a bolt/nut on each end(besides the 2 center posts bolts). So I guessed/questioned whether that would be enough to hold it on or not. Thanks for clarifying.

An Hour of free time and a little glass work and Im almost done.
I have no intensions to use it but It shale be in the classified section as soon as I get around to getting some gelcoat and primer next weekend.
Pic's soon to come.
Now Only if I could get some of you people to commit to the carbonfiber hood.
bbiaf time to do a little more sanding now that the glass should be dry.

interesting........i'm in love with the stock piece though. the whole reason why i bought the particular year. if you want to make it aggressive make it fast. classic looks speak for themselves.
nice work chris on the piece though, i could sure use that kind of help on some of my interior things.

There won't be matching paint unless his car is primer.. he's priming it and selling it, not keeping it for his vehicle.
