Weatherstripping

alright guys, just bought myself my new camaro today after having to leave my baby (84 z-28 5 speed) behind when i moved...but, when i bought my car today, i was rolling the window back up when the weatherstripping came outside of the door. i checked on hawks, and it doesn't look that expensive. What all i gotta do to change this piece? also, i think the left side t-top is leeking...it was right above where the door closes, more towards the front of the car...what piece should i get to replace that?

Ok, the first part. which weather stripping are you refering to, when you where rolling up the window. if it came out are you talking about the outer strip that is against the glass along the top of the door? The second part. Try adjusting your t-top first to stop the leak, from what you are saying it sound like it is coming in between the seal on the t-top and the seal on the body. If you can't adjust the t-top see if you can increase the up stops on the glass to make a tighter fit to the seals. If not you can either replace the whole passenger side seal, or so a splice with another used seal from a newer car. but removal of the seal can be a pain. Especially cleaning up the old adhesive.

Sounds like you are talking about the outer windlace that's on the edge of the door that contacts the glass ?

(#4)

strange that it came out.. is yours screwd in?? mine is. Ya, it's a cheap fix.. roll the window down, remove # 2 in the picture, then if where screws remove em, and re install the weather strip.

It's not as easy as it sounds.... removing #2 is easy putting it back is a B@#$%! also... the 2 middile screws holding number 4 are nearly impossable to remove.. let alone put back.. i'm stuck doing that on my Z right now...

any one know of an easy way of doing this?

Without buying a tool:
Easiest i've found is to remove 2, 3, and 6. Then there are 2 brakets that are on the top that you just loosen and you can pull the window back. Ill start the screws in the middle of #4 with my fingers, and find my skinniest longest phillips head and jam the screw driver down there and screw them in the rest of the way.
i used quiet a bit of force against the window when pushing the screw driver as level as i could get it. Dont push too hard against the glass or you'll end up replacing it. I didn't use a rag but i didn't hurt the window either.
Buying a tool if you dont already have it:
You can also find some funky screw drivers at just about any checker that have some flexible shaft on it. Interchangable bits, and its cheap. I was just too lazy to go buy one. I think you'll still have to remove that window guide to pull the window far enough away from the screws to get ther driver in there.
