is it worth it?

i found out down the road, their is an old camaro junked on the side of the road.. rear window smashed out. pretty much dead. but the front lower gfx, the 91-92 look, is in great condition, except the driver side, is broke completely in half, though both peices are their. would it be worth taking this peice off and putting it together and taking the time to fix it up so i can replace the current one on my car (89 model gfx) mine is alot worse condition then the junked one down the road. mine has deep scratches and both corners of the gfx has a big chunk missing... from an earlier repair..

i figure if it wouldnt be too hard to fix a peice like that.. i will go grab it tonight.

ive checked junkyards, and theirs are trash, and hawks charges 125 for that peice. this would be a good chance.
opinions?

im not sure what year it is.

its fuel injected v6.

but the only gfx on it is the front spoiler. no side skirts or rear quarter panel.

i suck at explaining things, but this front gfx is perfect except its broke completely in one spot, my main concern is this a easy fix to put it whole again?

i included a picture.

beisdes the clean break, its great condition. looks to be primered black already. i would just take my time to sand it down, clean it up and somehow make it a single peice again. thats where i need your help

(the thick black line is where it is broke)

If it is broken on the chin spoiler where the line is, just forget it. My IROC has a crack in almost the exact spot. I have taken it to a few body shops and they all say the same thing, "We can fix it, but will not guarantee the work."

Seems that the area we both are concerned with is sort of a weak spot. When the car hits a speed bump or a driveway, it will just break again.

Just wanted to let you know what I have run into.

That's the weak spot on the 91/92 spoiler. If you look at a good one, you can see why, it is very thin there to make the bend.

i got the whole gfx set form my dads work (chevy dealership) for free cuz the parts were 10 years old and they clear the shelves of old parts, i also got switches, battery cables, console plates, center caps, emblems, lug covers, an 89 and a 92 z grille, wind shield wipers, and autoi shift ****, that made my dad so i slapped them on my car they look a lot better than the factory 89 gfx, and i sold those for 250 bucks

There was a rip in my 85-89 gfx I put on my car, I fiberglassed it back together from the back side and filled it with a special filler for soft compound body parts, And its held for almost 2 years...

I used some of the 2 part putty repair that they sell in a little plastic tube. It's called QuickSteel Plastic Repair, and they sell it at Autozone for about $5 bucks.

I used it to glue togther, fill and reinforce my nose piece and one of my side spoilers that was damaged by something on the freeway. My friend now owns the car, and it has held up for 4 years without any problems, and has even been hit by another car in the same spot.

Give it a try. Scuff it up with some rough sandpaper, and wad it on the back. You have only $5 bucks to loose...

Don't know y they would not guarantee.I would finda differnt shop.THe best way to fix it like 90FormulaWS6 did with the plastic welder. But if u don't have one of them.At my shop we use FUSER plastic repair. With a fiberglass mat backing.I have fixed all kinds of cracks, holes.I did a caviler bumber there was like a 6in. rip in the bottom. That was like 3 years ago never been back.U can get the stuff at any body supply shop.

To fix it get some SEM Problem Plastic Repair and go to a junkyard and get a piece of the same polyurethane plastic to use behind the repair to bolster it. You'll be able to bend the doubler to shape using a hairdryer and use the SEM to bond it to the chin spoiler.

Chin spoiler is held on with 14 bolts to the nose piece and a couple where it terminates on the fenders....15 minutes to "appropriate" it and be off.

if the car is abandoned i think it only takes 30 days for a new title to be issued if you apply for one. a buddy of mine lost a car, thought his roomate had it turned out it was towed and no longer in his name.

i dont know how tow truck companys can do it, but if its been sitting there for awhile and if i had a place to put it... id start that sucker up and get it home

its all black too.

and if the tranny is good. how much does a t5 go for?

Well a v-6 t-5 will go for alot less then a v-8 one....Might get a hundred or so outta it...But for the price alot of 91-92 stuff is going for, I'd find a friend to tow it, hide the car, part the hell out of it, and give the shell to the junkyard...!
