opinions on door panels

I am in need of door panels for my '87 IROC. I am going from red to black interior and need new door panels; Mine are shot.

Question is, I see a lot of black vinyl door panels, you know, the ones with the diagonal slots on the sides. Question is, has anyone used those with leather seats? I almost think that they look better and would do along with a black leather interior better than the cloth ones. I haven't seen them in person for a while so I can't remember how "quality" they look.

ANY OPINIONS on using them over the cloth 88-92 ones?

BTW: Aside from a window crank hole, is there any possible differences in the door panels? Are there differences if the mirrors or door locks are power?

do what you like.. but my opinion is that those door panels aren't that great looking....

the texture of those particular door panels may match leather seats better than cloth ones, however. you can either do that or get your current ones reupholstered..

My current ones are SHOT. They got wet and the board behind them is completely warped. Not to mention all the holes for the black trim at the top are ripped thru.

Make your own panels. I did mine and they came out great. You can go as simple or as fancy as you like. Here's a pic of mine. I was going for an OE look.

My current panels are shot so recovering them isn't an option. Besides that, I like how clean those look, but IMHO, they're kind of bland. For me, the custom idea represents a Custom look involving all kinds of different year F-body parts (88-92 door panels, 96 seats, 91 gfx, 01 dash/console, etc). Thats why I was curious about the vinyl ones.

hmmm....

Like I said I was going for an OE look. It does give you the opportunity to go as mild or as wild as you please. As for the small Firebird logo just use a small thin blade flat screwdriver and pry gently from underneath as to minimize any visible damage.

Well, they hold a 20oz. quite frequently and on occassion they hold the biggie/super sized drinks from Wendy's,etc. The map pocket section is great for holding up to 6 CDs. They're not meant for much else.

I think they look great, I actually like these better than the ones that came with the leather seats. Heres a pic, I assume this is what you were talking about?

here is pic of my black vinyl door panels, which are in mint condition. my drivers seat is shot and the flash made them look really really blueish. I had just finished my interior swap from doeskin.

I think the vinyl panels would look awesome with 4th gen leather seats.

grngryoutmyway's pic is sweet btw.

your seats are 93-96 but i think it'll look just as good

....wish i had some 4th gen leather
