4th gen seatback "shells" compatible with 3rd gen seats???
I have the original "Ultima" seats in my '89 GTA. The large plastic covers on the back of each front seat (the part with the storage net things in them) have some deep gouges/scratches in them.
The part #'s for these trim pieces have been discontinued long ago by GM. However, the 4th gen T/A style shells are still available. Okay, now here's the question: Can the 4th gen T/A style seatback shells(the part that has the storage net things attach on the back) work on a 3rd gen GTA style seat?
I'm thinking yes, but I'd to know for sure before I plunk down the $$$ for the 4th gen ones. The local dealer that I usually deal with is being kind of a harda$$ lately and won't order them until I know for sure that they'll work with my seats.
The only part I'm concerned about is the headrest mounting area up on top since everything else looks about the same. If I use the 4th gen style, will there be any gaps or cutting required for the headrest mounting area?
Does anyone here have access to a these items and can compare them side by side for me to see if they're different or in fact the same in this particular area?
Thanks.

Okay, I'll make it easier.
Anybody with a 4th gen T/A style seat have a pic of the area right where the headrest goes in, but without the headrest already installed?
Thanks.

AmorgetRS,
Actually, I just need the trim piece that covers the back of the front seat. I'm not switching seats or the headrests just that plastic 'shell' that covers the back.
You know, the part that faces you when you're sitting in the backseat of a 4th gen T/A or 3rd gen GTA?

Amorget,
Thanks! That's EXACTLY what I wanted to know.:hail:
You wouldn't happen to know the spacing/distance between each of the (2) headrest support rods on the 4th gen? You know like how far apart they are? Are they 6" apart? 8" apart?
