Question on factory primer/sealer/paint

Just a quick question.

Did Pontiac use a red sealer over the primer, or even a red primer on the factory paint jobs.

The paint on the car right now is green (don't know the actual factory name) however due to a incident with a boat (ex wife ran into the prop of a boat), I have a good chunk of paint missing on the front and I can see 4 layers .. bare metal, grey (primer is my guess), red, then the green on top. The red is etched it seems, and doesn't look to ever have been a top coat because the layer is extremely thin.

Nevermind, figured out what I was seeing.

Seems the orginal owner wasn't completely truthful to me, and that the car had the front replaced and had a used nose put on, which was red, and painted over. Must have happened early on because the paint is nearly a perfect match.. but then again, time and fading can hide alot.
