85mph speedo upgrade?
Hello,
Im new to this forum as of today and I'm looking for some information. First let me just say that the project car that I'm building is a 1987 Z28 Camaro 305 car. I recently put a 350 engine in the car. One of the first problems im running into with the car is the 85 mph speedometer. I'm wondering is there a convertion kit to convert these to a larger speedometer or do I have to go aftermarket with a seperate gauge mounted somewhere else in the car? If there is a convertion kit, what does it take to install it and where is the best place to find one?
Thank you for your help in this matter, and I will see ya at the track!

If you're looking for a speedometer that reads higher than 85mph, you can simply swap in any cable-driven 145mph speedometer from a Z28 or IROC-Z (I presume that yours is still cable-driven - from '85 to '89 they were cable-driven, and they went electronic in '90 IIRC). It's a direct swap if my reading serves me, but do some searching on here to get the definitive answer.
If you're looking for a gauge that is physically larger, I do not know what will mount in the stock location and what won't.
Hope this helps you out, and someone please correct me if my info is wrong
