How much to replace the 1/4s?

Hey guys I'm doing a full paint job (down to the metal) but have rust around the rear wheel wells. The passanger side MUST be replaced, but the driver's is questionable - it will ultimately depend on the expense to replace it.

Has anybody got an estimate on one of their 1/4s?

Thanks,
Mike

charged350 must be a body shop employee cause he is right it is all bout the negotiations.

oem qtr 509.31
13.8 hrs for rt qtr and 14.8 hrs for lft qtr to install
3.6 hrs to refinish qtr
1.4 hrs to clear
.2 to remove and install moulding
1 hr to remove and install lamp
=roughly $1500-$1600 if your labor rates are the same as mine in tx.

you can also find a used qtr to put on.the used qtrs usually go for around 250-400 depending on where it comes from. figure same time to install/refinish and add apprx 4-6 hrs to cut fit and trim qtr. normally a easier repair to go with oem vs used.

hope this helps

I don't know if these times change (doubtful) but, the Motor collision guide estimates it to be a 11.5-12.5hr process for R&R of the panel x per hour rate of the body shop + the cost of the replacement panel = a rough estimate of just how empty your wallet will be in the end.

deadbird is right, different estimating software = different times to R&R or remove/replace things
mitchells uses 13.8 for rt qtr and 14.8 for left.
I imagine adp, and pathways use something else.
just goes to show you it is still all about negotiations, huh

yup, you got it, i work at a body shop, and i hate doing 1/4, so much drillin, welkding, lining up, clamping, its a pain in the *** time consuming process, and me being oung, i have zero patience for that ****...

it does take better part of 2 work days to change a 1/4...negatiate my man, negatiate....

but being young and doing this stuff is the fun part right?

My suggestion to mdricken is go to several reputable shops and get a few estimates to see who can do the best job for the right price. NOT just the cheapest price. Sometimes you get what you pay for if you know what I mean.

Charged 2 work days = 2 qtrs right????????

i got my used 1/4 for 160, and if you had that then it might lower the cost of having a shop replace it, but it all depends. dont go used if all u need it the skin. i had to get basically 1/4 of that 89 cuz my wheel well was halfway rusted out.

it depends tho, cuz it'll cost u to have them trim up the used 1/4.
