I Want This Car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife, who hates my obsession with my IROC, came to see me on my last break today and drove me over to a car for sale.... It was 1990 IROC-Z hardtop for $1300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can had MILD body damage near the pass door (no biggie ultimately). HAS 350 TPI, black interior, 4 wheel disc, NEW GUAGES!!!!
This will be HER car
I am SO PUMPED!!!! I called the owner and said I want that car, no haggling needed!
CAN ANYONE ELSE BELIEVE THIS???
THIS CAR IS GREEEEAT (aside from above mentioned dent)
My wife is test driving it right now and I can't until 7:30 when I get off work!!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHH IM GOING INSANE!
whew

What is she doing out test driving a car for? She should be at home cooking dinner. j/k
That's awesome though. I love it when women are interested in the right things. Not that long ago my mom's Camaro became mine. She still misses driving it, even though she's driving a damn Lexus LS400. She just about bought a real nice red IROC a few weeks ago.

I had to double-take the price at first. When I called the guy and asked price, and he said $1300 I let him finish his sentence and said, for that price, I'll take it.

Partial resto - It'll TECHNICALLY be the wifes... I figure, if she HAS an IROC maybe she can share my obsession!
New paint, rims, exhaust and a system and she'll be a happy wife.

Car: 85 firebird
Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo, shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
congrats on the car man, you sound like you just had a baby! lol.
Dont worry about things being wrong with it, generally people who get ripped let themselves get ripped. Even if you end up needing some parts for it, shop around and get the best deal you can.
BTW V6 3rd gens with 200k on them are selling for 2g's near me! I saw mine for sale with 90k on it for 700! The lot said they had the car for 5 minutes before i came it to buy it.

Well good news and bad news.
I drove the car last night after work... Interior is gray - no biggie there. Engine is a 305TPI, not 350. The owner told me its an original 350 5.7 TPI but badging on the car doesn't say 5.7 Tuned Port Injection... just tuned port. Not a real biggie there either as this will be my wife's car
Other thing is it doesn't have rear disc. rear drums... again, something my wife wouldn't even notice.
I drove this car and it drove like a BRAND NEW CAR. It shifted PERFECTLY, moreso than ANY 700R4 I've ever driven. It was like silk!
The car ran over bumps and imperfections in the road beautifully. No interior rattles or squeeks ANYWHERE.
Car has 125k on it the current owner has had it for 7 years and only put 30,000 miles on it in that time.
For $1300 we are definately buying the car. I am psyched!
Do you guys think I got a good deal?

Sounds to me like you got a great deal! You lucky bugger you, and in Idaho no less! Every ThirdGen I see around here (Montana) is usually priced really high, and they are hardly ever in good condition like that IROC. Man, $1300? I paid $1800 for my 89 V6 RS, and that was a good price! (89,000 miles) I just got a one-owner immaculate 1994 S10 Blazer for winter, an IROC is next in line. I am sure I am going to have to go out of state though, probably way out of state to find a nice one.

That is cool man, before my accident and about half a yr ago I got mine for $1000, stock engine was in it, no probs except manifold leak rusty radiator (good thing previous owner didn't have it long). Was a stock 305 v8 tpi 4bl, auto not one slip, bad shocks on front, but the engine was great it is a bit rusty and I was to tear it apart and rebuild, but I'm not ready for that yet still getting to know it... half a yr later needed a water pump but oh well. Rear drums oh well. Good thing your woman likes it, my fiancee wants a camaro/firebird/stang trying to convince her for a 3rdgend camaro ss or z28. heh Most of these around here are about 2k...arg.

We put the deposit on it yesterday and wrote up a sales agreement. Hopefully we'll have it paid off by May 15th, which is the wife's birthday!

A '90 IROC-Z for 1300 bones! As Strong Bad would say, "Holy crap! "
Hm...from the looks of these posts, I may have gotten ripped on mine; it's an '89 5.7 TPI auto, 4-wheel disc, t-tops, 16" rims, apparently fully-loaded, straight body, and the guy was asking $2500 for it when I bought it 3 years ago. It felt like I was stealing it from him, but then again, I've wanted an IROC-Z since they came out in '85...and I'm only 31. Needless to say, I picked it up
Congrats on finding a '90 for so cheap! :yourock:
- 89_IROC
edit: Mine had at LEAST 100k miles and some change when I bought it; unfortunately, my odometer only has 5 digits, so I don't know if it's rolled more than once. Pontiac had the right idea for putting 6 digit odometers in the '89 Firebird - at least I know the mileage on THAT

I dont really think the owner is aware that its not a 350. Not an original one anyway. I haven't checked the block numbers yet but I bet they'll come back as a 305. Anyway, he said "Its the 350, the 5.7". He might have been told it was a 350 when he bought it. In any case, I explained to him my obsession with IROCs and the trivia around them so.....
The underhood sticker says "5.0L", the rpo sticker says LB9 and it goes on and on... Its not a big deal to me at all. Its a 1990 IROC and its in overall great shape, and for $1300, its a bargain!
