started wheel well repair

Hey, I decided to go out and put my car on the lift today. I grinded out every bit of rust in the rear wheel wells and spent $50 on sheetmetal. This rust was so horrible! Ill post some pics tomorrow of the progress. Anyway, my question is this: After the welds are done, what should i do next? Also, do you guys just seem weld it or just put a bunch of tack welds? I hear 3M puddy is good for over the welds but I know nothing about this. Anyone know anything? I got some cans of rubber undercoating, will that help? I wanna get this done so i can start taking out the SLOW 305tbi and start putting in an LT1.

man looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you.. what do the bottom of the cowls look like? I had minimal rust on the rear quarters, but a good sized hole in the cowl. Anyways, I always do a full weld on all patches. If you dont, you'll have putty runnin inside the car. Those flares look like hell, are you going to replace the quarters? probably save you a lot of time!

ya, i guess im gonna get some 1/4 cut outs from a local J/Y... They look horrible!!! wish there was a quick fix to the 1/4's though because im running out of money! I also have to save my money for the TWO rusted to hell floorboards. Other rusted spots that arn't so bad is under the rear bumper which ill just replace and i tiny bit of surface rust in the front wells. The rear wells make the fronts looks like a 5min job. lol Thing is i don't want to replace my 1/4's till i have enough money for paint, a cowl hood, vented fenders, and a highrise spoiler. (the ones that look like the origional lip was jacked up a few but is a spoiler, not a lip)Oh ya... and the front lip which hit to many concrete stoppers at parking lots.(previous owner) I just figure if i get a killer paint job in the summer that maybe all this will seem worth it. Snow's finally starting to melt which translates into more landscaping jobs available.

PS:

BTW, welds may look crappy but my mig kept burning through it and i was using 16 guage steetmetal. So i had to make bigger welding pools and sand em down. I didnt start cuting/shaping/fully welding the sheetpetal patches on the top yet as you cans see.
