i'm thinking about doing a full 4th gen interior swap.....i have the money and the will, just don't know if i have the time. the most i could afford to have my car sitting is 2 days max.

1) Seats - should be a breaze
2) Center Console - shouldn't be more than 2-3 hours
3) Door Panels - a few hours, but i could drive the car with that being unfinished
4) Dash - what i'm most concerned about. how many hours do you think it would take to remove the old dash, hook up all the wiring to the gauges, ducting to the vents, etc, and attatch the new dash? i want to get started on this, and i'd like to get the dash out of the way first because i know it will be the hardest, but i want to know if i can do it on a weekend or if i need to wait until i have a few more days free

Honestly, don't plan on a weekend being long enough. I would set aside a fair amount of time to do it right. If you can only touch it on weekends, then you realistically should set a month aside. Not to say any particular part is hard, but there's just a lot of little stuff involved. It's been stinkin' easy so far! Just a lot goin' on to get the job done right

I think I read somewhere on here that you need to do the dash before the door panels because the door panels don't work with the 3rd gen dash...hopefully someone can elborate on that. On a side note the seats are a breeze, but make sure you have a torx set for your ratchet if you want to get the seat belt guides off the back seat as GM used loctite on them.

formula...what is exactly is a torx set? i have a fair number of tools in my garage, but i've made up my own names for like half of them...

tpiroc...how many hours do you think are involved in the dash? i have a friday-sunday free coming up soon so i could have 3 complete days to work on it....think it's feasible withought killing myself? i'm not at all worried about the seats, door panels or console, but the dash is pretty intimidating.

for instance...i know all the wires up by the steering column are for the gauge cluster, but what about the thousand other sticking out all over the place? once i get my old dash off and am looking at the new one, is it pretty easy to see what hooks up where? i'm sure the plugs don't hook up and that you have to splice everything, but are the colors correct?

i have not found an extremely good source for directions for the swap....i've just found tips here and there in differnet posts. all i really want to know is if it's fairly easy to figure out what goes where once you take the dash off.

a torque set is just a start bit like the screws in the dash and stuff on the 3rd gen stuff looks like this * you just need bigger ones

Don't let that picture intimidate you. 80% of those wires you just stuff back up behind the dash

oh, haha yeah i have a huge set of those....just i don't know the name for it.....yeah i have a ratchet and a 50 pc. set of, uhh, those things
