great news guys, the carpet did come out black afterall. I had it outside, before i brought it in for vacuming, and it looked so black it was mind blowing. The camera didn't really capture it as i saw but you get the picture.

The second group is in the house(after being vacumed), which is about how much lighting will be in the car so... ya get almost how it would look. It looks black in relalife, if you got cameras you can understand.

i'm trying to think is ways to make the fur match. It is so comfortable on your arms its not evne funny. I might just get some black fru to take its place, i dunno. I've actually got enough black todo that to... hmm.......This stuff is really comfy too. Problem is this stuff shed, so i'll have to vacume it again. I dunno, i just might do it guys.

Its pretty cool actually, since my mom has two bissels, i used her old one to dry the carpet once done rincing, and now it is completely dry. I mean completely.

Bad thing is the rear area carpet, wont die for ****. I've died it twice and guess what. The die just comes right off the next day when i rince it. It sucks like ***** man.

Nah guys, I think today or tomorrow that fur on there is coming down (the part on the door handles). I'm going to put a big piece of left over black fur on there to match the rest of the new color.

One think I noticed a minute ago was, I forgot to get krylon fusion paint for the interior plastic panels. Going to get that stuff another day I guess. Don’t have enough money for the 3 cans needed for all the interior pieces. What is that stuff, $3-$4 a can? Expensive as **** I’ll tell ya.

When I start working and get paid I’ll do that. With my new seat covers and all. The car will be breath taking to my step-dad when he gets back from Iraq. He's the one who gave me the car and the last mod he saw was the paint. Everything else he hasn't heard of. I can’t wait until when is it, September. He’s in the navy.

This is not directed to any certain person:

This behavior needs to stop. DO NOT TRY TO GET AROUND THE OBSCENITY FILTER! We are not children here. Most of you are at least 15 or 16, SO ACT LIKE IT!

I will not tolerate this sort of childish behavior on these boards. If you continue to act as such, I am going to just edit your post. I will start putting people on probation. If that does not work, I will just ban you and your IP address.

Consider this a general warning. TGO is a second home to many people, so keep it clean and above the belt. We have worked hard to make this the best third gen site on the net, and will not allow a certain few to tarnish the name.

Questions? PM or email me...................................

yeah i might try that with the arm rests.

And for the headliner, yes i did use the stock board.

you can use my headliner repair guide i made,
http://www.geocities.com/kidrcth/Headliner_Repair.htm

it is about the eaasiest thing to do to your car if you just follow those instructions. Make sure the fabric you get is strachable and thick. Those are key things in the healdiner repauird if you want it to look good.

You headliner board can be reusable as long as its not broken in two or dis formed. Bends can be fixed and so on.

Please dont try to spark something new up by saying the argument is over, it'll just start again.

d00d, your a modertior, your supposed to not post bitchy things. If you dont got anything nice to say, dont say it at all. Geee, maybe someone should calm down and except that people have different style. Ya know what if all the people in the world lived stock, how they were supposed to, The world would be stupid. I'd kill myself. BUt thw world isn't like that, as much as you may belive, so leave me alone, the fur is comfy.

So your excused,

Shane

geez guys go easy on this guy we all have different opinions about things. some dont like **** burners some do some people dont like muscle cars and some do. just because somebody dosent like something that automatically means u have to change it???? if you are asking me i dont care for the fur but that dosent mean he doesnt like it. also i want my interior to be origanal and my own style the way i figure whats the point of having something that everyone has seen before. it good to mix it up a little bit. i dont think you guys would appreciate it if somebody said they thought your interior looked like **** ecspecially if you thought it was the best ever and spent alot of time and money into it so just think about that before you go disrespecting somebody's opinions

Hey Shane,

I think you are doing a nice job with the carpet. I would have to say that the fur is just not me, but to each his own.

To the rest of you: Please keep the negative comments to yourselves. I am just going to edit them from now on. Dont try to argue your rights to free speech. You signed an agreement when you signed up.

Once again, if you dont have anything nice to say............. If you MUST post something, just keep it simple. For example: "Just not my style" would suffice.

Alright thanks. I really like the black, my neighbor thought it was cool and so did my mom.

The fur really isn't a lot of people. I don’t know why, but everyone around here loves my fur. I guess some people just say it’s cool so they don’t have to say it sucks but I don’t know. I've had a good number of people in the car over the time. Most people say its "aight" or "cool man." I guess the "aight" people are just saying its cool for you but not for me. Like you guys should be simply saying.

I appreciate the people who say its cool for you, but to say that it just sucks. That’s not very cool. Like said before, its like if everyone told you your stock interior sucked *****, how would you feel. Exactly the same way I do I’d bet. I spent a crap load of money on my car, well it’s a lot to me, I’m 16 and don’t make much money even if I do get money. The $25 I spent on the color change is quite a bit of money to me. The $20 my mom spent on the headliner was a lot of money to me. The $850 I spent on the paint job almost made me cry. But it was well worth it. I bet if you just spent $850 on a paint job and once it was done people said it sucked. I don’t think you'd be very happy anymore. You wouldn't change it most likely because you like it.

Please listen to the mod; I started this thread because I wanted to share my interior mod. But now it’s turned into a hate war. Please mod if you got to start editing posts then do so. I want this to stay technical just as much as you do.

when i need dot replace that fuel pump,it'll be in another 16 years. The old fuel poump is gone man. My step-dad ran that baby out about a year ago. Got it replaced with a nice cool aluminum red one. I saw it come in, he ordered it from summit. I have a feeling it wont be needing replaced for a long time so.....

well 97+ 4th gen console is gonna go in, Hawks black vinyl seat covers, still gotta paint the interior plastic panels black, Then hopefully the new Summit Racing Seats, actually these ones right here($200 each), well minus the racing harness.

I'm thinking now that i want todo a 4th gen dash swap, but i love my dash, its awesome. But 4th gen look cool too. I want a glove box!!!!!!! Why didn't we get one, thats soooo gay.

well the carpet looks kinda purple in the photos, but if it's really black then good job on it...wish i had black interior instead of bright, BRIGHT red everywhere.

glad to see you're painting the screws black.....it was too plain with the panel and the screws silver.....also glad to see you're ditchin the semi-purple fur, and going to black.....cant wait to see the whole thing finished

edit: i hate the 3rd gen dash compared to the 4th gen.....i'm gonna do it too, but i'm waiting until somebody posts a thorough guide to doing the swap, wiring especially. my car is my daily driver and cant afford to sit more than 2 days...3 MAX.....but yeah, go for the 4th gen dash swap

i will do the dash swap onyl for the reason it has a glove box. Thats the only benifit for me. And i got enough time to do it simply becuase my house has 5 cars. I can use another for the 3 days. And it isn't that hard todo. The only things needed to be wired are the meters. The other wires on the other side is the ECM. The color of the wires are the same in the dash, the plugs are just rearanged, so, you just gotta rearange the plugs to make it work, Simple. Thats why there are no posts on it. It is very easy. I heard the hardest part is getting hvac(its the heater and a/c control) to work. But that can wait until you got some time ya know.

And for you people in NE3G making fun of this stuff, the carpet isn't purple, the camera just makes it look like that. Its really more of a graphite color.

And the panels arn't gray, silver, or primer, they are 1998 Chrysler platinum to match the exterior color.

Dude who cares what the people on that wanna be site say? Ever post a tech question on that site? Takes them a year to answer. That site is all . Those people think post count equates to IQ. The point is you did it yourself and it turned out pretty good. Theirs some people who never turn a wrench on their car in their life and pay someone else to do everything.
Ignore that site and do what you want to your car.

as for the vinyl and fightin n highjackin liek the others times man im stickin up for u nothin else so ppl wont be sayin yur stupid u kil u speakers n such maybe but i just thought of sharing info about the downfiring box and my subs and maybe it applied to yurs not to start a war.
but i agree w/ the mods and what they are doin this is the best site and do need get on some ppl i myself was gettin fired up n using bad language but to be honest i dont remember doing much of it since it was kinda a late night n some other reasons lol. but at least i did say i was sorry over it.
and for other part man i just did not grow up n turn way i am for 20 years to be called a kid and all.
i really do liek the looks tho and was goin to point out n ask if u remembered the rear plastic and doing it in black.

that would definatly knock yur eyes out if u done that cuz its already awesome.

also i notice alot of blank posts were ppl must been butts and got edited cuz u was liek man abck off man chill and then i was liek huh?
i like seeing mods do such thgins they dont do it to all but when they watch n find out tis good thgin i think.
that reminds me shane how about dying yur fur on armrests w/ the black?
be easy and u got the stuff i think it be awesome.

no one knows everything and thats why alot of us are here, to share what we know and learn what we dont know.

My skills are pretty good in car audio for example, BUT if someone with more exp and knowledge such as jims85iroc, Faded,(theirs some others i cant remember) has something to say then i read it and think about it because they have been to where i am now. Been there done that.

Back to the subject, The doors look much nicer than i thought they'd turn out. Good job. And i'd keep the fur. Makes it different than everyone else!
Holy crap, recognition. :lala: :lala: :lala:

What rug is that? The rug in the well?
Maybe it has some grease in the fibers? That could stop the dye from working correctly.

i wonder what the prob was too hes right tho grease would effect dye liek it would paint id assume and not let it stick or like dirt maybe.

mine the top part on top the tank is liek a birck its not soft very short carpet and liek i said stiff as a board i scrubbed it w/ a brush and soaked it but didnt loosen the carpet up a bit.

also u can paint it man trust me it works.
not sure on normal paints prolly work but at my local auto body store they sale a flexible coating has sem written on top i guess the compant makes it.
it works for vinyls plastic carpet everythgin doesnt take no time to dry n wroks good on carpet or soft stuff pouruse stuff looks liek dye but i used some on my pulleys looks like normal paint.
i used it on the inside and out of my old shifter boot was liker soft carpet on inside and leather outside worked on both great.
aint cheap bout 7 bucks a can or 8
im goin spray my frotn carpet its worn or stainded ugly

i assure you, no grease was on the carpet. I pressure washed it twice before i died it the first time. No grease will hold on after 1200PSI.

After the 2X4 mod I was pretty sure you were nuts, but (I can't believe I'm saying this) the door panels turned out pretty good. The work really paid off, man.

Yup, I'm a moderator, but I know crap when I see it No hard feelings, you do something that is way different expect to get opinions on it. It's nothing personal and shouldn't upset you. It's the internet, you don't know me, but just remember everyone else that sees it will think the same. It's a hard fact of life.

have a nice day

Saying that this is an internet message board doesn't excuse you for making completely useless comments that provoke a flame war. We all know that the fur isn't very popular here and I don't like it either, but Shane is doing a lot of work on his car and plenty of people have offered constructive feedback. That should be the rule of thumb... if your comment isn't in the spirit of being constructive, it's wasting space.

Anyway... Shane, I like the idea of using vinyl on the door panels and sail panels. I've planned for a while now on doing the same thing and drew up a nice door panel design. I also think that the platinum colored metal trim piece looks nice. Unless you are able to get a metal trim piece fabricated to cover that seam on the bottom, I think it'd look better recovered with a solid piece of vinyl. Usually you don't see a seam like that connecting 2 pieces of the same exact material. Keep up the good work.

As a moderator you should really be setting an example. Anyways, man looking at the carpet I really goofed when cutting mine :P. New pre-cut should be in this week. As far as the sail panels. Is there anyway to relocated those speakers somewhere else that way you don't risk drowning out your sound if you go vinyl? Im not sure what would be a good spot because honestly I rarely look in the back of my car .

alright guys, the interior is back together, for now, so here are some more pics guys.

Gosh darnit, the carpet still appears tobe purple in the pics. I'll tell ya now, its not purple, Its black. Black as can be.

The back carpet, i found out needs to be dyed with something i found in a summit magazine. Its a spray type of dye. seen here,

I've seen perforated vinyl that might not muffle the sound as much. They are sold to recover older car's headliners that came factory like that. Also, some vinyls may inhibit sound more than others. I know i've seen ones with a light padded backing and others with a stiffer mat backing.

I wrote that last one up before seeing your new pics so i wanted to add something... I am impressed. It looks really good! The vinyl looks high quality when it's all put together. I was affraid that it'd look cheap because it isn't leather but it doesn't.

Wow... now nothing matches... as far as all this moderator intervention crap, I would hope that by now Shane has figured out what stuff he's gonna get flamed on and I think it's really ****ing pathetic that he posts stupid crap all the time and then goes crying to mods all the time when people give opinions, anything you post on here will get an opinion good or bad, he needs a ****ing babysitter for every single post he makes, its a very serious waste of the mods time... not to mention the pathetic people like me who feel the uncompelling urge to read through it..
