Power hatch and a stick
Ok why does my hatch button open my hatch while im driving? My auto car had a lockout for it but the 5 speed will pop it at anytime. Is there no lockout on stick cars? and is there any way to fix this or put a lockout?

for the manual cars usually the parking brake has to be applied before the hatch will pop, is the 5 speed stock in that car or did it used to be an auto?

d_johnsen is correct, on the cars with the manual transmission, the hatch release is wired into the parking brake switch. If your hatch is popping open while it is in gear, it is possible that your parking brake is slightly engaged or the parking brake switch is bad. I would also check the hatch release relay.

if the parking brake switch is faulty, the BRAKE light should be lit up indicating usually that your brake system has a failure, or in this case, the parking break is supposedly applied

well the car was always a stick and the brake light is off. But the switch may be wacky cause sometimes the brake light doesnt go on when the brake is pulled. Ill check that further tommorow. Thanks guys
