Thinking about putting a fuel cell back there, but not untill I know it won't cause my car to explode. Thats why I need pics.

Don't put it in the well, if you get hit it will rupture. You can mount it right behind the rear seats on the hump, the factory tank is under there anyways.

Not really a good spot for a fuel cell, since it has to be sealed off. My rear seats are removed and I am thinking about a 6 point roll bar. Maybe I should mount one back there and seal it off. However that would probably look crappy.

my car had been hit on the right rear corner, and everything looked fine until I took off the bumper cover. the bumper was bent in and so was the that corner of the rear. the 1/4 didn't buckle and the glass didn't break, nor were the decklid gaps off. but it did cause the 1/4 to rust out. I'd say you'd have to get hit pretty dam* hard to do ANY damage to a fuel cell. and even than it's not like there's any spikes or harsh corners that are gonna get crunched in to have any possibility of RUPtering a fuel cell. the only reason why IIII wouldn't do it is because if on the offchance something happened you'd be in the same structure as the gas tank.

I got hit on the right rear corner, and the quarter panel pushed foward creating a large dent in the 1/4. The passenger door also needed to be slammed hard to shut it. And the hatch went out of alingment because of the panel being pushed up. I didn't get hit hard, but he just cought the bumper, so it was all that force being concentrated on a small area.

I was thinking of sealing it off, so it won't be in the same compartment as I would. I am thinking about using the narrow aluminum roadster fuel cell that summit sells. Its like 30 inches long by nine inches wide and should fit in the hatch nicely.
I have been looking at other cars and most cars have the fuel tank about where our hatch is, only they are underneath the car and not in it.

if you seal it off that would be alot better for your sake. your frame rails runs where the two high spots are in your trunk, between the left storage comp and trunk and the right storage comp and trunk. so that would take the brute force of an impact and the middle would crush, absorbing alot of the force.
I don't want to jynx you tough, just don't drive it when it's slick out.

Does anyone make a fuel cell box that I could just cut a hole in the hatch hump, drop it in have it welded in and go that route?
