lights

any one ever try and change their instrument cluster lights... i tried and it turns out that u have to replace the bulb and the sockets as one piece.... talk about learing the hard way. well if anyone else has done it with out replacing the socket please let me know.

Engine: 350 on z-28,305 on sc
Transmission: bw t-10 on z-28,700r4 on sc
in my car i just removed the little bulb from the socket and presto!
no need to change the socket

Engine: 5.7L TPI
Transmission: 700R4
There were two styles of those light fixtures used. One style used replaceable #161 or #194 light bulbs that just pulled out of the socket. The second style required you to replace the whole socket. Go to a junkyard and find some that have the replaceable bulbs that just pull out of the socket.

well the bulbs i have are 194 but the socket says to replace the entire assembly

Well, do as I mentioned in my last post. Go to the junkyard and get some sockets that allow you to just change the bulbs. I think it was around late 89 or early 90 they went with the style that you have.

Autozone/Oreillys/napa (anyone) has those sockets that let you put whatever bulb you want in it and just snap it back in. Did it to my truck like 3 years ago.
