Steering wheel swap in 92...Can it be done?

I have heard that its not possible to swap out steeringwheels in a 92 Camaro because of the air bags or codes being thrown around. Has anyone ever suceeded in doing this mod or am I just SOL for now?

The airbag shouldnt matter. They all have the same steering column. Just pick an adaptor from one of the older ones. There is also a Tech article for removing the airbag. It might help out. The reason companies (Grant) dont say the adaptors will work with the 91 and 92 is for liability. I guess they are worried we will turn around and sue them if we get injured because the airbag was removed.

Well my supervisor had a 91 RS and he did it. He works on them all the time but I have no idea if the 92 TA is anything like the Camaro in the steering.

I assume that this isn't legal... but will a car with the airbag removed pass inpection and such?

If you wreck and insurance finds out they might not pay.

My '90; I need to repaint the spokes. I don't know if its me, or the older wheel - I can't seem to get the wheel to be straight when the wheels are, it seems the steering wheel is always off by a slight angle.

As far as codes, I haven't gotten any. However, the "INFL. REST." light stays illuminated.

Yup, I just took out the bulb and removed every sensor on the car, plus most of the wiring.

I had an accident with mine last year, the accident report even stated the car didn't have an airbag, everything got fixed. The accident wasn't my fault though and I didn't get hurt.

There would probably be trouble if someone was hurt in an accident and they had their airbag removed though.
