Rear hatch glass for sale
I switched to a defroster glass (it goes in today) and I no longer need the rear glass out of my 82 T/A. if anyone needs it, I'll gladly part with it. name a price, and it'll probably be yours. I'm in GA, so consider that before you let me know. thanks!

Id like to get my hands on a hatch with no glass but unless I can take it out easy at the junk yard, I'll end up paying for the glass too.

The glass IS the hatch. If you wanted to switch to a diff type of glass (like defroster/non-defroster), you could switch out the trunk panel that is bolted to the glass.

details, details....
the PANEL in question has 4 screws and 10 bolts (actually studd with nut-washers on the other side). take your hatch trim panel off, and you'll see them. there's a metal plate that serves to sandwich the glass between it and the panel. the studs are on the panel, all you do is unbolt the nut-washers. after removing all ten, look on the side. there are 2 small screws on each side. (#1 phillips head). undo them, and then all you have to do, is make sure the thin plate i mentioned earlier is off. it should have fallen aay after the last bolt removed. then, close the hatch, and pull up on the panel. if you have a rear wiper, make usre you've removed it by now. if not, just pull up, and lay it flat against the glass. you'll now have a hole in between the rear bulkhead, and the hatch glass. cut the black RTV/glue, and throw the panel away. installation is the reverse of removal, except:
reapply the black glue in the same place where it was. (this make sure you put enough back on.) this stuff seals the water out of the trunk.
easy as hell. takes about 30-45 minutes total.

I used 100% silicone to seal one up, worked like a champ...
DO NOT USE LATEX OR CAULK, the stuff ages, 100% silicone lasts for 50 years or more.
