Car's gonna be black primer, want my bumpers to match....

I imagine that it would have defeated the purpose of using flexible bumper primer on my bumpers if I primered with normal primer over it anyway?

I am in the process of primering my entire car in black until it can be painted in a few months, but my flexible bumper primer is a very very light gray, almost white. I'm guessing using standard black primer over the bumpers would kinda defeat the purpose, so what should I do? Can I get flexible bumper primer that's black and will match the rest of it? Rattle-can please.

For reference, here's what my car looks like now, and why I want it all to be one color :

The other side is worse

so this is what I got: you have a flexible primer on you flexible parts right? if not I don't believe that primer will become rigid enough to crack. So do not worry about the color, when you paint it you will use a sealer on the whole car, I think you have to add a flex additive to that, but don't just paint it. definitely seal the whole thing.
P.S. don't use newspaper to tape off your car it will bleed thru and then you'll be able to read the classifieds on your freshly painted car.

any layer you put on the bumpers need to have a flex agent in it. You could do a light dusting of black and then block it off b4 final paint. Best would be just to go to the paint store and see if they can add flex agent or tent some flexable primer black.

I think you misunderstood, I want the entire car to be in black primer UNTIL it's painted. I'm not worried about there being a color difference AFTER it's painted.

I'll probably just put black primer on it and then block it off when it comes painting time.

Marhyde laquer high-build surfacer/primer, no real prep, duplicolor gunmetal grey. A sledge to the nose (a true beater )only caused minor flaking of the color.... I wouldn't really worry about a cover coat of black primer that you can sand off before painting...

if your shootin your primer out of a spray gun you can just add a flex additive and do your bumpers. if your just usin a rattlecan, then I don't really know what to tell you. Also i'm sure if you go to an automobile paint supplier they could mix up some flexible black primer. sorry about the misunderstanding.

Fyrelance: Make sure you update this thread and let us know what you came up with. I was thinking of going with black primer this year too, but like you I found that my bumper primer is light gray.
