I've thought about this too....but I've got the TPI. It would still help cool the engine in my case.
....regardless, has anyone done this? I've seen a rare I.R.O.C. fiberglass race hood here and there, but never a fab job.
I don't drive mine in the rain, but i can see how that would be a problem.

Here's some food for thought:
I bought a hood from a 91Z several years ago just before I had my car painted. It came with the hood blisters. The blisters have inserts in them, which had 3 holes drilled into each with a hole saw, roughly 1.5" in diameter. Under the hood blister, another hole was cut in the hood, about 5-6" in diameter. I kept it that way for a while and noticed a difference in underhood temperatures. No water leak problems either. The only time I could get water into the engine bay was to take a hose and spray at full force directly into the holes. Otherwise, it just drained from under the blisters. I've always thought about putting on the Extreme lid, but never looked into it. Do they fit the stock carbed aircleaner housing?

well thanks anyhow but blisters are very different and yah easyer to make functional.
puting a extream lid on a stock filter could work but look stupid and basicly be a waste of metal to leave the stock breather on there. just find a cheap bropbase air filter bottom buy the k&n filter and then the lid...thoes lids are expencive tho....anyone see them going for a good price???
