Well, it was my kinda fault. I was going to work and had to turn at a blind intersection in my neighborhood that I turn at everyday!! Well this morning some lady was in a hurry I guess and came flying around the corner. Minivan Mom! I was pulling out to turn left and bam...
The real kicker is SHE SWERVED INTO ME!!! Had she stayed straight or swerved right, there would have been no crash...I almost think the bich was aiming for me!!!
I wanted to get some body work anyway!!!

Is the radiator support tweaked at all? If not, then it's just replacing panels...no biggie really. Although that sucks that she swerved into you

YES...it is bent a little. And the tray that the Charcoal Canister sits on is pushed back. Luckily my Griffin is fine, it really looks worse than at is. Well, I hope anyway. I am going to start getting some estimates on Monday. I don't have collision, so I gotta hit up my blower fund!!! That's what really hurts me!!!
When I was waiting for the Po-Po to hit the scene, I was checking it out. Without opening the hood, it didn't look so bad, figured a fender, bumper cover thingie, and hood. I planned on a hood anyway.
However, as soon as the lady hit me, I saw that white tell tale sign of radiator leakage puff up from here van. I also saw the AC condenser bent and the some of the hood and grill were in it. I may have more body damage, but she has more mechanical damage...
What a morning...

Man that sucks, when my Z was 18 mos. old I hit a pick up in the rain but mostly on the right side. It took the bumper cover, lower facia panel, hood, right fender, bumper, headlight support, core support, rt. side driving light, plus various hardware. The total bill was $4500.00. Did the airbag blow? Mine didn't luckily. The folks at Chevy said the impact was probably less than 35mph since that is where it blows. If so that is another $750.00. You weren't hurt were you. That's the worst part. If you are handy with body work you can fix it but if not your insurance will total it. Your damage is identical to mine except the core support was as far as the damage got. Damn I hate to see these excellent cars taking hits like that. That was a pretty car.

Technically I was cited at fault because I was pulling away from a stop sign. But like I said, it is a blind intersection. Florida is supposed to be a no fault state, but if she wants to sue my insurance company I guess she can do that! I don't know...
My airbag didn't go off. I was barely moving!!! I don't have collision insurance so I am going to have to pay for this myself. If the quotes tell me it is going to be more than 2500+ which I think it will be, I am going to try to find a new car. I would like to find one that has no engine, but a nice clean body...
We'll see...

That sucks!! I hate to see those kind of pictures. I drive thru Tampa everyday, it gets crazy at rush hour.
I know how you feel I went for a quick evening drive in a 91 I had. Stop for someone to turn and this old guy just ran right into the back of me. I was able to get it home just happened around the corner from my house. Wished I had stayed home that night.
Good luck with her.

First of all, thanks for all of your replies.
Here's my question:
Do you think it is worth it to fix the 'maro? I haven't gotten an estimates yet, but I think it is going to be more than I should put into it. However, the car is already equipped with a roll car and subframe connectors, those parts I cannot just swap over to another car!!
I dunno, I can't really afford another car anyway, but I don't know about fixing it...I am just confused...Sometimes I think about selling everything and just riding my bicycle everywhere!!
Little help please, of course give me your opinions...

To tell you the truth the part that is the worst is the core support, it is bent some and the tray that holds the charcoal canister is pushed back some. My knowledge of collision repair is non exsistent!! My biggest concern is that it be at least the same as it was before. I don't want to open the hood and be able to tell that the thing was all bent up at one time!!
I was planning on replacing the hood with a ramair hood and the front bumper cover thing had some pretty bad scratches across it anyway, planned to replace it as well. So I am left with a fender and whatever else is bad. I haven't yet crawled underneath it...
Thanks for the input...

Definatly fix it. If you cant turn a wrench, or twist a screwdriver, and go to a boneyard, then its worth it. I am sure you can even find many good used parts to bolt back on, except the hood, if you want to get that Ram Air, but if anything else is busted, you can always put a old one in, and then paint.... Much cheper then a shop doing it with labor at 80+ $$ per hour.... at least here in Washington. AND them ordering OEM parts, which are expensive as ****. Cheaper and better I think to go to boneyard, and do it yourself. Gives you some "Collision Repair" experiance, so that next time instead of
you can say " I know my **** mother ****er!"....... Thats just my opinion. Really nice car :lala:

I once saw a 69 Camaro body on a 4x4 frame, it looked pretty stupid to say the least!!
I called a known good body shop today that my boss recommended and the owner said it would be no problem. They are more of a custom type body shop, which I prefer since I wanted to have the car painted anyway.
He suggested that I do just what you said, round up as much used, good parts as I can. He doesn't care, he said he makes his money in painting and straightening the frame anyway.
So I guess in a few months I'll be back in business. My boss tells me most of his work is long term project cars, so I figure they can have mine for a few months...no biggie...

I plan to let the guys have it for a long as they need, within reason. I will have another car to drive in the mean time in about 2-3 weeks. I just have to swap an engine into it. In the mean time, I will ride my bike and bum my dad's car as much as I can...

Glad to hear you're keeping it alive!!
We have that too in NJ- whoever pulls away from the stop sign is at fault... even if someone crested a hill at 100 mph and plowed into them, the poor stop sign guy gets charged.

What's up Third Geners, I think you all like my car more than me!!
Yes, I will keep it. At first I think the idea of having it fixed improperly made me think about ditching it and finding something new.
Thanks to all of you I looked into repairing it and I found a known good body shop to do the work. I plan to get it up to the guys in a few weeks. I will post some info about that once I get it to the shop. Then, once its fixed, painted and ready to go, MORE PICS!!!!
Later,
Ryan

Great news! i'm glad you're deciding to keep it...

Remember, it coulda been a lot worse..
like me Can't let the 3rd gens die!

What are you doing there?
Are you changing the whole front support?

Yeah, it's been a real chore... I got it for 600 bucks, and my 87 parts car in the background for $550.. This one was smashed pretty good in the front end, but i knew i could save it.. Runs great, and it is what i always wanted. (plus i could afford it) it has taken a while, but it'll be ready to drive by may..
This is what it looks like now.. I just took this picture tonight. I would have the fans and radiator in but the fan wires are hacked apart, so i have to figure out how to make it work
