Racing Seats
Hey Thirdgen-ers,
I am thinking about putting those poly highback seats in my car for drag racing. Anyone have any opinions on them? Which ones to get or which ones not to get? And any pictures of installed ones would be helpful. And if that wasn't enough questions, then how about any problems anyone ran into when installing them.
Thanks a lot!!
Mike

unless you need them because you need to run a harness because you're THAT fast.... i think the money is better spent elsewhere on the car. you dont need them to hold you in the car for drag racing like you do for autocross or somthing else that envolves turning...
but if you're set on the look.... get whatever looks good.... since thats all you're after anyhoo.

well i'm not dead set on getting them, I was kind of just throwing the idea around. I was thinking about it, but the more I think about it, the more I wouldn't get one unless it was a dedicated drag car. So maybe I should have just thought about it a little more before I posted huh?

i was kinda brutally harsh... sorry..
but then again... $200 per seat MIN... plus around $100 per harness is $600.... you could do alot more with $600...

No, you weren't harsh. I took it as an opinion.
Well the ones I was looking at are only like $40 bucks in summit. Just the cheapo black ones. If I was going to get like Corbeu's or something, then that is a different story.

Well For a drag only car, I would not hesitate to use them if they are mounted properly and supported correctly at the back rest against a roll bar. They will work just fine. They are inexpensive
and just about the lightest seat you can purchase for the money.
Again for a drag "ONLY" car.
You can save about 100 lbs. of weight out of your car and drop a couple tenths off your track time for the very little money it would cost you for these seats through Summit or Jegs .

I am thinking about getting racing seats just because...well I need seats lol. My seats are trashed. I also need seatbelts. The pass side belt barely retracts. So I may get seats and a harness. Probably install a 4 point cage since I'd need it for the harnesses.

Well I wouldn't go installing a roll bar just because you need a seat belt. If I was you, I would go to a junk yard and just get a seat belt from a doner car before I did anything. As far as new seats go, you might want to try the same method, going to a junk yard first. You might just luck out and find something decent. Or you could even recover the seats you have. Year one sells recover kits for you seats. Check it out.
