Found an "Auto Page" under my dash-What is this?
I was looking under my drivers side dash just a lil bit ago and found this box thing that looked like another security system. the car already has a new(er) clifford security system in it so i took this thing out and i have no clue what it is. It's about a 5 x 3 x 1" black box with the words "Auto Page" on the front. on the one side it has wires coming out and it says "RED +12, BATT. BLACK -GND. There's another hole that says "CAR RADIO" next to it. Another that says "CAR ANTENNA" that an antenna wire was plugged into and ran up to the over head console and just kinda stops. Another threaded fitting (like for a CB antenna) that says "ANTENNA". then there's a dial that you can adjust from 1-7/min-max. On the opposite side there's a bunch of screws that wires would hook up to- one that says "IGN", + and - screws that say "TRIG", and two sets of + and - screws that say "SENSOR". On the back sticker it says manufactured in '88. I'll try and get a pic of it if i can get my hands on a digital camera in the next few days. Anyone have any friggin clue what this thing could be? I was thinking maybe one of those pager things that tell you whats happening with your car, but this thing looks too 80's to be one of those!! Any ideas?!?!

I actually had one of those in my 86 IROC (red with T-Tops and a black interior w/Auto 305 Carb) - maybe you have my old car!
Anyway, it is for a pager alarm system - they have been around for a while. I think I put it in my 86 Iroc back in 89.
I find pager alarms have a limited utility as it is so quick/easy to steal a third gen that by the time you get back to your car (for example if you were at a mall or even at work), it may be gone already.
Good luck with the car!

Wow the car actually is red with t-tops, 305 carb w/auto, but it has the grey interior (it has some black interior parts so maybe it was originally black?). Who did you sell your car to and where did he live? the previous owner to me bought it from a dealership in the chicago area. thanks for the help by the way!!

I have a new one laying around that I gota install in my Jeep.
They call it a remote paging system, but its really a fancy remote starter/alarm system.
The one I have boasts that the remote lcd pager can vibrate if the alarm is activated, and show which part of the car has been broken into. It can even tell the inside tempature of your car and remote start it!! Up to a 1/2 mile away, but thats in perfect conditions and I doubt to see that.
I gota install it in my jeep sometime, I just got to research all the wires and stuff

I got it for about $180 shipped off of ebay.
There are other LCD remote starters that I found on ebay for about $110, but no brand-name could be given. I decided to pay alittle extra and know who made it
