Axle/Gears: G80 3.23 and open 3.42
I took my plate apart.
BEen sitting int he sun for quite a while.
Anyway to change that from yellow to white, but still keep WHITE light flowing through? (or will it always be yellow).

Otherwise I can get a used pre-1990 shifter and just yank out its WHITE shifter strip and use it. Assuming they are the same pieces.

I decided to just rip out the yellow piece and put it all back together. I have no red shift indicator anymore, but at least it isnt freaking yellow anymore.
Ill keep looking for a NEW 87-89 plate.

No, there are a few small differences between the plates.

First off was shift pattern, depending on what year and transmission. (Think early thirdgens with no overdrive gear)

Secondly, the slider mechanism was very different on 88+.

Last, the 90-92 had yellow letters.

However, they all will interchange.
