Toy sunvisors!

Just redone my saggy headliner. Gone from kacky red to a nice charcoal/black! uk89camaro said it was "pimpy" before!! Thanks Paul!
Anyway, completely forgot I had to do the sunvisors!
Look at the state of the insides.

Could I find any suitable card? No.
To the rescue came my 6 year old son, who said he had a toy whose cardboard box may be of some use! Perfect it was! Have a look.
If anybody ever re-covers these, they are in for a surprise!!
Worked very well though.
Completely pointless post, but I was amused by it. Certainly can't drive the thing now, so may as well enjoy working on it!

Hope you all are having a good winter so far.
Andy.

Andy,

How did you get the headliner material to stick to the foam backing? I have been trying with the spray adhesive stuff but it keeps letting go. Any preparation tips, or should I use something else instead of spray glue?

Thanks,

Si

Hi Andy, how are you? I hope you aren't going to cover up the wonderful box art with any material From pimp to Action Man

How's the car cover?

I haven't started the Zee for 6 weeks or so... I always take it off the road for the six months.

I have asked Father Christmas for a professional polishing kit for Christmas so look out for my wheels next summer. I swear my wife thinks I'm insane. Quite good kits though if you are interested the link is

Cheers,

And you somehow feel that you are ALONE in that?

Simply remember that while most of our spouses think we lack complete sanity due to our obsessions, many of us know that they are quite mad, so we can dismiss any of their opinions.

(I hope my wife doesn't read this!)

As for the spray adhesive, there are only a couple that I have found that are suitable, and the surfaces must both be clean and sound. One of them was a 3M product that is no longer available in the US, and the other is Camie-Campbell part no. 303 or 363 spray adhesive. The 365 is the really good stuff, but you only get ONE chance at positioning the material with that. That stuff really works, and resists losing bond at the high temperatures to which headliners and visors can be subjected. I'm not sure if it's available abroad, however, and shipping pressurized aerosol containers is usually a surface-shipment only.

Vader is right. The surface must be surgically clean. I used wire wool and a scotchbrite pad to get every bit of old stuff off. If you want me to send you some of the spray adhesive I use (bought from local reputable car trimmers place (where all my seats are being recovered now) let me know. Free of charge of course.
Here is a photo of how clean the surface has to be.

Andy,

I moved this to body & interior as it's not getting as many hits in the Euro forum as it would here. There are others that will benefit from this.

Regards
