Just by looking at the switch it does not look like it'll interchange with the 3rd gen console. For the replacement of the switch there is a plug towards the bottom of the steering shaft you have to unhook, once you do this, hook up some wire for a fishline, then just pull the broken switch from the column. You will proably have to tilt the steering wheel up and down while pulling it out and when reinstalling, I did anyways since it hit spots that stopped it cold. It is pretty easy, but a pita since everything is so tight throughout this process.
One more thing, you must not be the brightest light on the tree to publish your sticky finger anticks...next time do yourself a big favor, just keep that kind of info to yourself.

The plug in for the turn signal switch is down around the area your feet area at, not behind the shroud. You'll have to trace these wires all the way down where alot of the other things plug in below the steering column towards the fire wall-but its actually a foot or so back from the firewall. Like I said, not real hard just a PITA.

Do a search man. I covered this some time back. All you do is find the connector under the dash(was a grey connector for me), and twist the lever, and it comes right out! Gettingit in was a little different. Just a word of advise, take the "plastic cover" off of the wire when putting it back in and put it on once you have the wire all the way through the coloum. There are a few threads on this subject. good luck Oh yeah, if you want the lever, i have it here. Let me know. I just replaced for a "new" look for my interior, works perfectly.
