backs of rear seats??? >:O
how in the heck do you get the backs of the rear seats out... i see there is a rod going into it from the middle of the car, and there is a pivoting area on the other side. do you use a torx bit the get the screw out for the pivoting point or what? what size?

yes it's a torx bit, don't know the size, theres no room for a driver though, i put the torx bit in an adgustible wrench and did it that way. not fun though let me tell you. what a PITA. thats why i have not put it back in for six months.

if memory serves me correctly, it's a hex bolt, either 10mm, 13mm, 1/2" or 9/16". sorry if i'm not narrowing it down much, but i know it's a hex head, not a torx head. the striker bolts that the back seat latches onto when it's in the up position is a torx head though.

On my solid bench rear seat there are 2 bolts on the fold down part of the seat. On the bottom outer edges of the seat there is a 10-14 mm hex head bolt holding the seat down. Just need an extension to get into the corner. Its the same for the split bench seat.
Then for the bucket seat part there is 1 10-14 mm hex head bolt in the front center part of the seat. The way to find it is by feeling under the seat for the bolt.

If you have rear belts than remove the belt-guide from each backrest.
Remove the lower seat cushins using a 13mm socket & Extension .
Remove the 13mm nuts from the bottom outside corner of each seat backrest.
Pull each of the backrest away from the mounting pins in the center of the car.
Then,......................
