umm below 40? hope it is more like below 30... since freezing is 32... you may have a lube on them that is getting thck rather than freezing. did you grease the lock internals with something?

I had the same problem but fixed with a blow dryer. I asked about it at work and was told to try a graphite spray? I havent tried it yet, but will do soon.

they make something that you put in the locks to prevent them from freezing,it comes in a tube,no clue what the name of it is,but you can buy it anywhere-walmart,advanced auto, autozone, etc

you can also put some rubbing alcohol on your key & stick it in & sometimes thatll work

id hate to be where your at if its already below 40 degrees-BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

I use a product called, I believe, Loc-Ease. No problems like the one you describe.

Dry graphite powder in the locks every once in a while is supposed to lube the cylinder and prevent it from freezing. I agree with the other guy though, if it's only 40 out and you can't get in, it sounds like you need to pull off the door panel and lube up your lock assy, linkages, and the latch. Use wd-40 heavily on all that stuff to clean it, and then spray it with white litheum grease.

Good luck,
Matt

my passenger side door no longer has a key entry due to some clutz that tried to break in and my trunk lock now has a manual pully!....due to the same clutz that broke it!....but he got his 2 months later!...and turned himself in after a small mob tried to string him up!.....its amazing what can happen when you put the word out!...other than that I'm still locked out right now ,I'll just get auto extracation guy to get me in so I can fix this little problem,I hate driving my uncles 79' caddy ,it doesn't feel right !.kinda like cheating with another woman!...lol

I'm in like Flynn!

I tried De-Icer and did not work ,so I called a lock-smith on my insurance and the guy got me in my car in just 20 minutes and found the problem which was a sticky rod and the key entry was pretty shot!...so I stripped down the door and replace the key entry in 25 minutes and shot the rods with WD-40 real good all over and in between and thats a good thing since I bought a new key entry from a year ago for just $30.00 bucks which was for my passenger door but now I'll just buy another one for my passenger door anyways!

Atleast this way I can now change out my interior panels now and properly insulate my doors for winter!

"shot the rods with WD-40 real good all over and in between and thats a good thing"

If you want the lube job to last, you should spray some white lithium grease on all the linkages and lock assy. It's about 3.00 a can, and you can get it on the shelf right by the wd-40. The WD-40 will dry up real quick, but the lithium will stick to it real good
