aiming headlights

I was driving around with a friend the other days and he said that it looked like my one headlight was way off. TO tell you the truth, I never really noticed, nor do I know where they should be pointing. I'm thinking they are off since I fixed both gearboxes in the motors.

Where should each headlight point? I think the vertical (up down) angle is right, but not the horizontal. How do i make adjustments? I hope it isn't that very rusty frame thing under the black plastic side covers.

Look at the headlights closely and you will see 2 torx screws for each light. The screw on top adjusts up/down, the one on the side adjusts left/right. Should be easy to figure out. BTW, adjust with the lights on. I adjusted mine simply by parking in my street, and adjusted them until they looked right.

they have headlight alignment tools in most autoparts stores, they are not very expensive and it's the same thins that most shops use to align your headlights. pro aligning the easy way.

1.Put your car perpindicular to a wall on a flat level surface 25 ft away....obviously do this at night. Keep your lights off for now.

2.Measure the height from the ground to the center of each headlight.

3.Next measure from the ground up the same distance as previously measured and mark the appropriate spot on the wall with chalk, ensuring that the marks are straight ahead of each lamp.

4.Turn on the lights and note the marks previously made.

5.If properly adjusted, the beam should shine from about 2 in above to 2.5 in below the center mark previously made.

6.Turn the vertical (top) adjusting screw as needed to correct the adjustment. The best overall setting is .5-1 in down for low beams and 0-.5 in, straight ahead, for high beams.

7.Next check the horizontal aiming. If properly adjusted it should be 4 in. to the right or 4 in. to the left of the center mark previously made.

8.Turn the horizontal (side) screw as needed. The best overal setting is 2 in. to the right.

Hope this helps.

Josh
