convertible painting
I will give my car some new paint. I have a few questions:
- any problems to remove gfx, tonneau cover, spoiler ?
- can the rubber seal aroound the windshield be removed and replaced without taknig out the glass?
- are the body moldings on the door glued on or are there holes (i think about removing them)
thx

- yes, the vert bracing makes the GFX very hard to get off... if you do a search on it, you'll find a rather nice how to.
the clear plastic around the black part on the tonneau cover needs to come up before paint, and should be replaced afterward... but its expencive. price it first. 3M makes the clear sheet you need
the two sides of course dont come off... the actual spoiler on the trunk supposidly unbolts, but i never tried it.
- the rubber seal around the windshield can be removed carefully... but you will probly distroy it while doing it... you'll have to get a new one afterward.... btw be sure you find replacement vert top weather stripping along the windshield edge before you tear the old one off
i have no idea on the doors.

Not to get off subject or anything... but what's wrong with your paint? The pics you've posted lately look AWESOME. Looked to me like she still had shine left in her...

The door molding is just glued on, if you mean the horizontal 'stripe' of molding in three pieces. You should have no problem removing that.

The side molding are held on with double-sided tape. A nice trick to get them off is to use piano wire or thin mechanic's wire. Start at one end work it back and forth cutting the tape until you get to the other end. It works like a cheese slicer. This way, the molding doesn't deform like it would if you just pulled it off.

The older style molding is rivited to the door with a cover over the rivets. You first remove the cover with a screwdriver by prying it then drill out the rivets.

I have no idea how they were attached to the car. But the body shop that redid my car, and removed everything else said it was a bad idea to try to remove them. They also did not remove the black vinyl part from the tonnaeu cover. This is just my $.02. You can take it for what it is or is not worth.
P.S. They did remove,But complained loudly about the GFX. By the time they were done they were not big fans of ASC. LOL
