got a big problem
alright guys my first big problem, but not in mechanics. I spilled some very flamable adhesive remover in the hatch area, i mean the whole bottle full of this stuff. Now the label says if you light something that the fumes could also ignite it too. Well i need to use it tomorow. Will the stuff dry up over nigth and not be flamable anymore. I mean i love the smell it smells like oranges. I dont smoke or anything its just that i dont like that fact that its flamable. I live in a pretty rough neiborhood and i cant leave the window cracked for everything to evaporate i guess. What should i do. Am i over reacting? please tell me.
thanks in advance

is there any real danger with it being in the car until it dries. I mean if it dries is it still flamable? I live in florida and it wont be lonf tomorow until its hot in that car. And i start at circuit city tomorow at 8AM. So no time to clean the car out. By tomorow morning that car carpet should be dried out, becuase i used towels and stood on it and got most of it out, its just the rest that has to evaporate and seep through the non air tight holes in the car. I'm just afriad that the stuff will catch fire once its dried out. So will it? does gasoline catch fire once its been in carpet and dried out?

Your better off removing your rear carpet. Its not a big job, and doesent connect to the passenger area carpet, so its pretty easy. I would NOT mees around with any type of haz-mat... clean it up the right way, as exposure to some chemicals can do harm. If you can, search the internet for a MSDS (material safety data sheet) and see what you find. MSDS' will have the hazards, and usually proper clean-up methods.

alright, i've never taken carpet out of a car befor so give my the skinny on this. When does it connect, what do i have to take off, all this info is important.
Yeah you guys its just some adhesive remover from walmart. I cant imagine me having to wear a yellow suit to try to get rid of it. I'll prolly end up taking the carpet out and washing it with my pressure washer. This will get rid of it.

Better safe than sorry!
Anyway, fold down the back seat. Then unsecure the rear panels on both sides, you shouldnt have to remove them all the way. Remove the rear panel (where the trunk light is) and the carpet will come right out. It might be slightly glued down in a few places, but it shouldnt give you any trouble.
I mean hell, if you have a steam cleaner, you could try to use that first too, or go rent one for a few bucks. That should do the trick as well.

ok two things: First it really shouldnt matter once it is evaporated it isnt there. I work around alot of laquer thinner and we use them with rrags and when we are done with them we set them out in the sun to dry and then they arent any more flamable than a regualr rag. And second you could use the bissell if you just want to take extra precautions.
