What kind of adhesive for headliner?
I got a new ABS headliner from Hawks and am going to put it in this weekend. I was just thinking, what adhesive is good to use. Do you have to scrape out a bunch of old junk to prepare the roof for the new adhesive and headliner?
thanks

Larry,
Unless you are planning to replace the headliner covering, there is no requirement for any adhesive. It is held up by two clips at the front, the dome light, the side trim panels, and the small trim piece at the rear. If you do need an adhesive, go to a auto body supply store and ask for headliner adhesive. It comes in a quart can, usually about five dollars.
I don't know about your car, but when I re-did my t-top headliner a few months ago. There was no old junk to remove, just out with the old and in with the new one. Had to do some trimming around the openings for the shoulder harness and the domelight opening but that was it.

OK, cool. I guess I remember reading about adhesive when the people were just replacing the cloth covering and had to glue it on to the backing. Thanks for your input on this and my other thread about this, Im good to go

got the old headliner out easy. I guess the new ABS backed headliner doesn't use the two clips in the front right? I assume it is stiff enough that it wont sag when just held on by the trim over the doors, and the two sun visors. I see no place to clip the clips onto the ABS, they actually were embedded in the old foam one.
