it looks VERY complicated, and I would need to get the special tools. And $100+ labor to fix a loose tilt column is just not going to happen.

Instead of fixing the tilt, I would just like to lock the column in place at the highest setting (I'm 6'9"). Anyone have an idea about this?

whats wrong with your column to begin with? is it that the tilt mechanism is loose? does your steering wheel wobble around? because if that is the problem then you are gonig to have to fix it first before you can lock it into one position

Yeah the tilt is loose. My wheel does wobble like you said. I want to permanently lock it in the highest position. Like where after I do it, it can't be moved back down again ever.

its not hard or complicated...

and the only "special" tools is the steering wheel puller and the lock plate pusher tool...

both can be rented from autozone for free... (roughtly $12 returnable saftey deposit each)

you pull the wheel off, remove the lock plate, slip the stuff out of the way, tighten the nuts, and replace the plate and wheel....
