hehe, there's a thread about this going on over in the history forum right now.
I think most of us had two panels. Also called "hush panels".Scott Moyer doesn't have any on his Iroc, and although no one has been able to conclude who did, and who didn't have panels, It seems that obviously not everyone has both, or even any for that matter. If your car did NOT have either panel, both lower courtesy lights should have metal mounting brackets. As for me, both of my courtesy lights mount into my hush panels.
As for lights, my 89 Iroc has 2 underdash by my feet, 1 in the hatch, and 1 overhead. I also have 2 maplights in the mirror, and the undervent/HVAC light which never seems to have ever worked for anyone....but it's there none the less.
...and of course under the hood.

Not really Camaro related, but my 86 Trans Am had one in each hush panel. My 88 Formula is the same.
If you count all the lights on the inside,
I have the hatch light, dome light, 2 hush panel lights, one light above the headlight switch, and one light above the vent controls which can be seen in this video, http://www.transamws6.com/video/gauges.mpg
