Reattaching side view mirror glass
The years of bumps are taking a toll on my side view mirrors. The glass is beginning to come off. Right now, it is at the point where you can hear it vibrating against the back plate when the car goes over a series of bumps. What is the procedure for taking it off completely and reattaching it? If it is possible.
Thanks.
Thanks.

glue it
I had a driver's side mirror fall off my S-10 many years ago. I took it to a glass shop, and they cut a new piece for me and glued it on with silicone. It never came off. If I had to do it again I would use somthing called "The Right Stuff" you can get it at Napa. It is a permatex product. Its around $16.00 for a cheeze wiz can of it.

On mine the passenger side glass fell out before I bought it and was long gone. I went to the junkyard and bought a new housing thinking that was the way to fix it. When I got it home I was getting ready to put it on when I noticed that there are three torx head bolts behind the mirror, if you tilt it all of the way down or up you will see them. I unscrewed those and pulled the mirror out, unscrewed the ones from the original housing and put the new one in, took all of 5 minutes and I don't have to worry about the glue coming unstuck when it gets hot.
