Cupholder Mod Version 2

I am not quite done with this yet but it is pretty close...and yes I know my car is dirty again. Cupholders are out of a '99 Saturn. I did have to cut a whole lot out of the dash unfortunalty to get em to fit.

if i let drinks in my car that would be the ticket for me. i don't smoke so the ash tray could be thrown away without blinking an eye.

This is what I did to my 3rd gen Z for cupholders. Purchase the 91-92 firebird plastic cupholder/side pocket (sorry dont know the proper name of the part)ones that are attached to each side of the door. Those of you who have the 91-92 birds will know what Im talking about. They look way cleaner and even looks like it came with the car. They come stock on the 3rd gen birds and t/a's. Just drill it into the door panel and brace it with a metal bracket or huge washer on the inside of the door panel for strength and sturdiness. No drilling into the metal door is necessary. Thats what I did and it looks like stock.

I would have much rather put in the door cupholders..but they cost over $100 if you can even find them anywhere. So unless you get lucky in a junkyard that really isnt an option.

interesting idea and location. Did you also hook up the little lights that are in the cupholder? I only knew what the little hole was for because I have a 99 Saturn myself.

I didn't hook up the lights becasue I pulled out the light in my first design. I wish I would have left it though...

No problems with drinks hitting the reciever as of yet...

I've found that most of what perrypam has at auction is actually way too high. All they are doing is reselling brand new parts from GM. I've checked into the deals and called my parts guy(He can cut me a better price with no shipping involved either). Most of what they sell thats brand new you can get from GM brand new. Last set of Black floormats went for a little over $100!!!
I can get them from my dealer for $48.00!!
I'll stick to finding Part #'s and Gmpartsdirect or get it from my dealer.

BUT HEY...Just my 2 lincolns...

Same thing with console lids. I've seen decent used ones go for as much as $40, and new ones go close to $80. GMpartsdirect.com is $53 shipped to my door. Some people need to learn to do a little research...

Hi, this is parrypam from Ebay, we just wanted to clear some thing up. The items we sell on Ebay have reserves which can be found about half way down the auction page. On the floor mats for example, the reserve is $35.00. We cannot control what people bid on items so if the mats sell for $100, that is up to the high bidder. We also do not believe the black floormats are available any longer, we found a source with these from a vintage obsolete GM source, the darkest ones available through GM still are charcoal, dark but not black.
Also if you compare our reserves or even our pricing on our website (perrypam.com), you will find that we are cheaper than both third gen resource and hawks and have no minimum shipping cost(if it cost $3.95 to ship, that is all you pay). We are not trying to be cause any arguments or anything like that but don't want to be made out to be the bad guy when we don't control who bids or how much they bid. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to clarify.

The cupholders in the ash tray area look great, I've actually thought about attempting that myself. The only problem it seems is that is would make it difficult to access/see your receiver when you have drinks in there.

Still, I applaud your workmanship. I always enjoy practical and interesting mods, as opposed to the guy who put a small crystal chandelier (about the size of a grapefruit and using a standard 60 watt bulb) in his Escalade. I work at a lighting store and sold him the light and power inverter, and I had to ask him "Where did you get an idea like that?"

And naturally he says "I saw it in a rap video."

It turns on/off 2 neon lights that I have in the footwells...before everyone screams ****...they are tucked all the way up and you cannot see the tubes at all. Just ambient blue light into the foot wells. I will try and get some pics of it if you want.

Oh, of course! Call me crazy, stiers , but I would like to see some pics of that if you find the time. I love most any kind of mod - it's just, as I wrote earlier, it goes a little too far when you have a crystal pendant light hanging down from where your interior light should be!

not to rain on your parade or anything, but i think a MUCH better idea would be a well thought out flip out holder like on the 97+ trans am consoles....

just my opinion... i just like to use that ashtray lid to cover other things... and my stereo would block my super gulp

I'm sorry, but are you a sponsor here? If not, then why are you using space to advertise and slam other sponsors who pay good money to keep this site going? Please let everyone make their own choice.
