Car: 1988 Camaro IROC
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.27 9 bolt posi (non 1le)
Ground Effects (Pics)

Im really confused here, I've been looking at camaros, studing them, talking about them. And I am still unable to figure this out

There are different types of camaros..

IROC, RS, Z28 Etc.....

Which ground effect is which????

I've seen the "plain jane" Camaro with no GF. And I was wondering If I can just buy the plain jane and then put WHATEVER ground effect I want on it

For example the pic I attached, Is of a ground effect I like. However....

This car has a diff nose clip I believe

So this car is a Z28 I believe.... yes?

I THINK this is an RS

This Car I REALLY REALLY like that side panel... Is it just stock?? I think it says RS on it????

As you can see I am completely lost, I know I like the side of the RS, But what about front and rear??? anyone post any pics so I can see which is which

Car: 1991 Camaro RS Vert

the ground effects you like are 91/92 RS and Z28. 85 - 90 Z28/Iroc's were the same as 88 Sport Coupe (says camaro on the gfx) and 89-90 RS. 82-84 had the different front valance with the holes in it and the 82-87 berlinetta/sc had no ground effects.

Hope that helps!

not to make a big deal out of this, but are you saying 85-90 Z28's & IROC's said camaro on the side???

85-87 IROC-Z's said Z28 on the side because IROC-Z was a package for the Z28, 88-90 IROC-Z's said IROC-Z on the GFX because they made the IROC-Z it's own vehicle, 91-92 they only made Z28's and they has the vented GFX wich look the best of all.

The GFX in the second pic you posted "with the vents ont he bumper" are like 82-83, very old style, Camaro Sport coupes didn't get any GFX until about 88 I think, they said Camaro on the GFX.

It is MUCH easier to get a camaro w/ GFX and then swap them out for the 91-92 sytyle, to much of a pain trying to put them on non-GFX camaro's

hope this helps.

But what your saying is, If I get a car that has no GFX AT ALL!!

I CAN buy the GFX and just put them on??? drilling bolt holes is no prob, But is it that simple?

Well it should be... They didn't change the body for 10 years, just bolt on stuff like the nose, bumper, hood and the likes.

5SIZ... you've got to be kidding me!!

Yes you can buy a 82-87 berlinetta/sc and put ground fx on it. Check out 85SportCoupeto89RS (black car does polishing on the side), he did it, and bubbakutz (pearl white sport coupe) is putting 91/91 gfx on his (if he is still going that route). Its just a little measuring and drilling. You'll also need a new nose.

It's just all nuts and bolts guys. Get the apropriate parts, drill some holes, paint to match.

I found with my conversion a bunch of the holes are in different spots between the two styles, so it took some drilling/filling. It's all strait forward stuff though, just plan on giving it some time to get it all lined up correctly. There is nothing worse than a car that looks like it was a rush job.

Topless, I think he was saying that it is a pain to put gfx on a non-gfx car, which it can be. The only difference is you need the brackets that mount the rocker panels on, which are welded onto the car. Also, you would need to swap out both bumper covers (as opposed to just the rear [assuming the car was not an 82-84 Z28, in this case you still have to do both]) and possibly the honeycomb depending on the original style that was on the car. HTH!

ES87Iroc, I was referring to the part that he commented about from my post, the "camaro" in the gfx! He either read it totally wrong or I don't know what!!

I cloned my old 84 Z28 to a 1992 Z28...the whole conversion. Had to change the front bumper and the rear bumper. When I changed the nose..I had to shave down alot of the plastic underneath for the 85-92 nose to fit. And I had to drill misc. holes and attach things differently...and I had to weld up the holes and do some body work in order to install the 91-92 Z28 HighRise Spoiler....but it all worked out....every part is basically interchangable with minor modifications...

In 87 yes you can get a sport coupe with a 2.8 and 5 speed and t-tops. 88 was the first year the SC got gfx!

You can get the gfx and nose from any junkyard or Thirdgen Resource or hawks.

I just got back from the junkyard where i scored an Z28 Front end, IROC Tail Lights, and a hatch cover for $98 *pretty good* My question is the nose has the front spoiler, how can i pull the ground effects off the doors, under the doors, and the front fenders easilly? what tools are needed?

so what you guys are saying is that I can take my 1989 camaro Rs ground effects and swap them over to a 91-92 camaro vented GFX's with out any problems. seeing as how my car already has a gfx package on it.

They are expensive, about 500$ a set for ground effects, and 200$ for the z28 wing on the 91-92.

I just happen to have picked up a complete set and the wing and hood louvers for a 91-92 z28 for 200$ and sold the hood louvers on e-bay for 125$
