Floppy Sun Visors?
How the heck do I fix these?
Both the driver and passenger's side visors are floppy. Won't stay up (maybe they need Viagra).
I had to remove the drivers side so it wouldn't bother me while driving. When removed I can see that the problem is the metal post that the visor slides over. Its loose and wiggles around.
Looks to me like there's not much to do to fix that other than getting another visor support (the part that screws into the roof).
Any other way?
'92 GTA by the way, no t-tops.

Is everything screwed in real tight? Is the metal part of the visor support (the rod) screwed in good into the visor? If that doesn't help, maybe put a piece of fabric of something very thin around the metal rod to make it tighter?
New ones are very pricey.

I had a similar problem on my t-top bird. What I did, ws take the visor, turn it so it stuck halfway into the hole where the top would go, and bent it upward until it fit flush. I tried all the screw tightening things, that didnt help, so i just bent the crap out of it.

I don't know if this will definitely help as I have not had to do this with my third gen, but on both my first and second gen I have had them go bad. What has worn out is the bushings (again, if the third gens use them like the 1st and 2nd). Bushing kits are fairly cheap, I got mine for the '69 for less than $5, and can be purchased at interior shops or resto catalogs.
If the visors do use bushings similar to the '69, then kerryismygirl89's idea should work, too.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

If the bullet-shaped piece that inserts into the visor itself is bad (turns in the hanger), you might try some J and B Weld, or better, simply hit the bone yards for new hangers, which is what I did--got visor with mirror and hanger for $10.

Yeah its the bullet part that's bad. I tried to see if it would screw in but it just turns.
I need to start fixing things on this car. Its going downhill fast. Dashboard cracked, visors are floppy, leather wasn't taken care of, paint is faded, power antenna is bent.
I neglected my car for 2 years, now I need to take care of it

I just got done fixing these things tonight while trying to finish up the new headliner and carpet job in my Formula.
I found a tube of loctite red and soaked the seam area where the chrome bullet goes into the black housing - did it a couple times to make sure I had it all filled. I gave it 15-20 minutes to dry up and so far so good. Slid my new visors on, bolted them up... DONE!!!

You soaked the end of the bullet (the part that goes into the housing) while outside of the housing and then put it in? Or was your bullet still inside?
My bullet comes out. Its that loose.

Yours came out? Mine was just loose and rotating freely.
If you're were that loose that they come out I'd be hitting it with JB weld or something.
