Red Sidemarkers

Everybody seems to be going for the clear front sidemarkers, and I'm not sure I'm into that. And since my car is red, I've been thinking about gettin some red rear sidemarkers and putting them up front. What do you guys think, besides the obvious fact that I'll have to take them out for inspection?

That should be illegal in all 50 states. Vehicles not registered to Police/Ambulance/Fire are not to have red or blue lights visible on the front of the vehicle. You will get pulled over for it.

I would like to point out that they are more lenient on blue lights. As other types of emergency or construction vehicles have them. However you have to register such vehicles with the state.

Then they are subject to some other laws after that is done. I agree that it would look pretty cool.

DOT states that rear taillights and signals can be red or amber/orange. Front turn signals must be amber or clear.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, that makes sense. I wonder if I put the red lense up front, but put an orange bulb in it, I wonder if the orange would show through. It would be illegal in the day, yeah, but at night, slightly less so.

It still wouldn't pass inspection like that. And I think if you backlight the red at any time with any color I bet the result will still look pretty red.

I wish we could do it. Red or blue lighting would be cool IMO but since it will just give the cops another reason to mess with you besides the fact that you are driving a sports car it isn't worth it to me.

Now green on the other hand all around except the tailights is legal.

Rear turn signals have to stay red or amber. Reverse lights do have to be white but I bet a hint of green wouldn't get noticed to much.

But green everything else could be alright if it were bright enough. I'd have to see how it would really look.

Since I am going for a really stock looking car I probably won't do anything to show that it is modded on the outside so I won't ever try it I don't think.

I'm always up for company. You should look me up on AIM:OrinackraMG
PS: to keep this on topic , I think I'm gonna take my extra set of orange front markers, paint the outside with translucent red, see how they turn out. I'll post my findings.
