i need to atleast become freinds witha moderator. Can they make it so you cant talk on certain threads anymore. i wouldn't care if anyone did that to me. But some people need to just let stuff go, school starts tomorow so you wont be hearing from as much. so everyone dont be sad be happy.

how hard would suade be, I heard someone mention it earlier. I thought about velvet seats a long time ago when I worked for an upholsteror, but velvet wears out to easy. I'm also a fur hater, but love the Idea. I know someone who used fiberglass to redo their headliner. It looked good to. Other than that, I hope your center colum holds a lint brush, lol, J/k. I loke to modify cars, but not too much. I damn near woke the wifey laughing at this thread.
Not to get off topic, but why does R I C E get bleeped out?

i belive from the over-usage of the word r!ce that we used on here that it was removed from our TGO language... now i call them oriental masterpieces of crap... or OMC... hey... wana start a new trend? OMC!!! YEAH... YOU HEARD IT HEAR FIRST.. in the first thread about putting fur on your headliner, the new word for r!ce... its OMC!!! muahahah!
totaly off topic, i know....
Suade might be hard becuase of what is and how you can tack it down... I have seen and read stuff on how to make custom headliners... I wana give it a try, but i think between the upper consol and the ttop, i have about 4-5sq in of headliner showing... i was thinking of something cool with the visors... but ahh i dunno.. we will see...

well suade wouldn't be too hard as long as its reasonalbly thick(about the width of a normal t-shirt) and strechable. If you dont have a strechable fabric corners are impossible(only if you have t-tos). You need thickness for when you take it out thers no doubt that it will bend and make small imperfections, these need to be fixed with duct tape or fiberglass meterial, with thin things the addition of these things can be seen very easily. When its thicker its much more harder to see. Now the thicker it is the more better you'll have it when you put it on because if the spray adhesive does loose grip, it will not be noticeable, but if its too strechy it might.
Now to tell you the truth i cant remember what suade looks like. I just give you these details to make it easier.
The seat covers, i'm still working on, but with school now its gonna take awhile.

What the suede style leather? That would kick ***. Especially for the headliner. The seats would be cool too. I just don't know how well that would hold up. For the headliner and maybe door panel recovering that would really be nice.
I'd have to have seen it done to say for sure but I like the idea.

I read this post to see if there was a fix to the loose seatbelt guide I have in my headliner. Since I havent taken my out, I thought it was made of some kind of cardboard, and maybe some leakage had destroyed the hole/mountings for the guide. But is it made out of fiberglass, or did you make the fiberglass as a replacement?
Ten years ago I had a mid 60'ties Fiat van, and in that car I also got wild with fur. Being a student and needing to make an interior for my $500 van, I went to flee markeds and bought carpets, 60 ties curtains, bedsheets and lots of more stuff, even a big old waterpipe. I mounted a white carpet with 10 centimeters long hairs in the roof. It looked as though you almost couldn't see out of the windshield, and made your hair all grey...*lol* It was cool in that car, I even had Maltese cross mirrors, and shrunked scull mirror hanger. The thing is that most older guys have real bad memories of this type of vans from the 70'ties. As a freshman One doesn't see it that way, and there you have a cultural collision right there, based on age differences really.
IMO these kind of fabrics and styles dont go too well with the overall trend of "fast" automobiles today. But on a old van, 60'ties style, it would be cool.
Next time, use some "high-tech" material, like the Goretex mentioned earlier, or maybe just some wowen carbon, without the "glass" finishing. Then you would see some whole other replys..

those plastic guides are stuck to the seatbelt retract itself. You just have, like everyone, broken one of the peices of plastic on it.

Ok, so it's that simple. I only need new plastic guides, and the headliner itself is probably in ok shape? Are these plastic guides availiable as replacements?
Thanks for the info...but about the headliner, cardboard or fiberglass originally?

The guides are attached to the cylinder that retracts the seat belt. I took one off a junk car the otherday to fix one of mine. I just happened to come across a Berlinetta that the seatbelt was already cut in it. Don't take apart the chamber! I experimented with that at the junk yard. It exploded, lol! Do you guys want me to put up a play by play thread to show you how I fix it with pic's and all? I will probably do it this weekend.

You want to know something weird, even though I used some pretty cheap materials, everything I did is still holding up. I am very proud of my job that I did right here.
Now no fur will be found on any of the car too. It has completely stopped shedding. Haven’t started yet on the seat covers. I get paid on Sunday and since I went back to look at all my old thread, my newly remembered soul wants to start on them things very soon. I'll go to some place to buy me some fabric; does anyone have any idea for a good seat cover? Right now I’m only going to do the front seats. So I don’t know.
I’m telling you something now though; the colors are going to be Black and Silver/Aluminum. Please give me some good ideas for fabrics. Though most people won’t read back here I’ll probably have to start a new thread to get my answers?
Since it has been, what, 6 months, I’ve already been banned once so all you people that ragged on me before, take your laughs. But since I was put on probation and rejoined I’ve been very good. Sorry for the previous comments guys but I guess 6 months of maturity really did something.
Thanks for the good times, if somebody does want to archive this thread go ahead; I find it as my best piece of work. My best craftsman’s ship at work right here. I will try to beat myself on the seat covers, everyone expect these seat covers to be very professional looking and made of high quality fabrics. I have $100 to throw around on these covers. So these will be nice. I will be taking pics of the project and all you people, who expect something nicer, just wait.
