Door Handle Question

i have a 92 RS and and the drivers side doorhandle jangles when opened and there is a lot of slack in the handle as well. When it first happened there was a little wire rod that was bent into a loop on one end hanging from the doorhandle which i assume was the problem. How do you fix that? Everybody i know who has a camaro has the same problem with their doorhandles, so i guess its a pretty common problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the rivet holding it in is broken. I replaced a door handle before, this is what i did. Removed the rivet, replaced it with a hex head screw and wing nut on the back, i used some felt washers so there wouldn't be any rattling, you might wanna use some locktight on it also so it dosn't come loose and you'd have to remove the door panel again to tighten it up. Hope this helps.

i had the same problem with mine, too much slack and whenever i played my system loud it would always rattle. I finally got to the point where i couldnt take it no more so my cure was that i shaved the doors!! lol. No more rattle.

Fuzz,

Just one of those things where the design sucks.

If I read your post correctly, the little wire piece is what's left of a cheap little spring under the outside of the handle. The spring is supposed to keep the handle from rattling in the first place. Problem is, when the cheap piece of **** breaks, you have to take the door apart and replace the whole handle. Stupid, stupid design.

My driver's door is apart for the power window motor, which has been replaced. I haven't even had the time to put it back together, so the passenger door handle is gonna rattle for awhile...
