Do-it-yourself Paint job question

if you have the time, and patience to fill, sand/smoothe, dings and such, is it really that hard to repaint a car yourself

I say no. I painted my Camaro twice and it was easy. As long as you do everything correctly and take your time with the body and prep, get and read the MSDS sheets, you'll have no real problems. Talk with your paint store or a pro painter before you paint for tips as well if you like.

When painting, try to keep dust down to a minimun by moping your floor. I did my 85 all by myself with no prior experiance. It came out pretty well.
