How to remove decals

Some of my decals are really looking bad and I want to remove them completly and replace them with new ones. Anyone got any tips on how to get them off so it doesn't hurt the paint and doesn't leave a shadow of the decal. Like on my door the M in formula has compltely come off. I just pulled it off with no effort at all, I think the guy who did the decals before I baught the car did a job of putting them on. Also im looking into fourth circle designs emblems. Has anyone put the 93-97 formula door emblems on there third gen. I am curious as to how it will look if i went that route. Anyone have any pics of these newer emblems on there car? Anyways some help in this matter would be great.
thx in advanced.

Spray some WD40 on it and let it sit for a couple hours. Should come off easy and not hurt the paint.

I did my entire car's pinstriping (removed it), as it was cracked in places and looked all around horrible. Now, this may sound bad, but if you're CAREFUL...do as I did. Take an adhesive remover (I used a product called "Goof Off"), and an exacto razor blade...and VERY CAREFULLY start to peel with the edge of the blade. After that, take a rag wsoaked in the adhesive remover and rub off the glue, unsticking the decal farther. Worked for me!

Also, the "shadow" of the decal may be ever-present no matter what, depending hw long it's been on the car and how long the paint around it has had time to fade.

this works great and is cheap.

it also works if somehow someone stuck duct tape to your paint as a joke and the sun cooked the glue on there...

just let the WD40 soak on it. if you spray and try, it wont help, but if you spray and try 10-15 mins later, it should come off easily

and it wont harm the paint.

Also heating the decal up with a hairdryer helps.

Axle/Gears: Slow lol.
Save the aggrivation of accidentaly scratching the paint and go to your local auto paint store and get a 3M/Scotch-Brite decal removing wheel. Well worth the money and lasts for a very long time so you can help out your friends, lol. I bought mine from the Snap-on man so I probably paid more than you will at a paint store. They have 2 sizes I believe a 6" and a 4" wheel and you have to buy the arbor for it so you can put it in a cordless higher RPM drill or air drill. I think all together it was less than $20 for the wheel and arbor and I have used it on about 5-10 cars, 3 of my own. And you can't really avoid the shadow if the decals have been there even 6 months on some paint.
